The sun has been shining in the Telluride - Ouray area and the melt is on! Here are a few pics today of Black Bear from below "the stairs" down into Telluride. The trail is difficult on foot (I walked what I could through deep snow) and totally impassable in a Jeep with massive avalanche chutes still 5-15 feet deep. It's melting but going to be a while... Note my Wrangler in the lower left corner of this picture for scale. Those who have run Black Bear will recognize this as the end of the one way section at Bridal Veil Falls. The snow is well over 10 feet deep here.
Those are some great shots. The second one looks like it was taken at the second switch back heading up. It's still going to be awhile before it's cleared. Thanks for re-posting this Sinister6.
I was supposed to go to Ouray this weekend on my motorcycle but opted not to. I want to save the time off and take the Jeep there later this season.
