Thanks, Owen, I was really trying to find some way to delicately phrase it, something like "if you don't have a trailer queen, don't even think about it". Hell, looking at the entrance scares me and that's the easy part...

Although, come to think of it, Wanderlust might have a yen in that direction...could explain why he wants 40's...

There's another exit out of China Wall, other than going back the way we came in. FS204 comes out further north than the main entrance. It's very rocky and has a really tight squeeze at one point. Full size rigs usually can't make that turn. TrailDamage.com has a pretty good description of FS204:

OOOH the Carnage Question????? Well there is a sign ate the beginning that says you need a mimimum of 35" tires, Lockers on all 4, Replacement parts, in case you break an axle or something, Winch, Tools and an oil recovery system of some sort. Most of even the BIG rigs have to winch out of the exit. Not all of them but some of them. Look it up on YOUTUBE and check out some of the vids. That will help to make up your mind.

Haha, yeah...definitely that bad...

Its in the top 3 most difficult trails in colorado (followed by patriot and independance trail)

When slaughterhouse thaws out thats a great trail...china wall (as mentioned above) is a nice trail...and some other really easy ones would be 7 mile and bald mountain then green ridge and kelly flats are a bit more moderate as well as a few others in that area...

Thanks for all the input. The only reason I even brought it up was because traildamage said for every difficult thing there was an easy way around it. I'll keep looking. I'm near Nederland and wanted something kind of easy for a first trip. Haven't had the jeep too long, but I'm dying to play with it. Definitely not looking to destroy it by any means.

Anyone else in the HWY 72 / Golden / Nederland area?

Better not offer, you might end up tied to a rope helping pull him through some of the nasties

Check Colo-TJ's Seven Mile thread, you're near Boulder so it would be an easy shot for you. He wants to go this Saturday unless I can entice him into checking out the Gulches

Well, I'm sure there will be a few going to CW on Sunday. That is quite doable for stock, although I wouldn't call it "easy". See if you can work that, I'm sure everyone would be happy to meet you.

The JK X had a two inch lift on it when I bought it and rubicon wheels with mud tread from Goodyear. though I don't think anything in the line of suspension. Would I be ok?

You shouldn't have any problems. I have tow and a half inch lift with 31 AT's and I took the worst options on the trail. No worries

That is NOT the carnage canyon I was talking about. There is/was another one in boulder county with a low rating of 3. But traildamage says its permanently closed now, so doesn't matter.

Yes, that trail looks scary!

I'm not sure which is scarier, the trail, if you can call it that, or the people who run it and think it's fun...
