chihuahua trail ride new post! switched to near baldy : breck

we were gonna do chihuahua gulch but may do an offshoot of the bald mountain trail near breck! if interested in doing this on sunday thn post here and we can make more tentative plans! lot of fun stuff up there with tons of camping and fire ban was redently lifted! anyone? as I said in the other thread I would rate this trail (3mile loop or so) as a 3 with one hill section as maybe a 5-6.... not sure how to rate! anyway, let us know whos in

I might be in for this, I live it breck and I run up Baldy after work alot. I have to head down to the springs saturday morning and get my heater fixed before my 60 day warranty runs out next week and I'm hoping its not the heater core or something serious that will take days to fix.

Is the trail close to Breck? If so, what about the Moose on the south side of town, east side of the hwy for coffee and jelly rolls?

I'm at the dealer, now. Should be pickin up a JKU silver/black Sport S. It'll really be a virgin!

Yes the trail is in Breck and you turn up Boreas about 1 block from the Blue Moose. Someone post up final details tomorrow as I'll be in the Springs and crossing my fingers that I don't need a major repair. I would say you dont need to start that early as the Baldy trail is not that long and you have a great view of any incoming storms over the 10 mile range.

By any chance is the Baldy Trail up by Glacier Ridge? I was up there (hiking, cuz the SUV we had would've gotten bent; company car) They were flying radio-controlled gliders. Very cool. Kids loved it. I always said I'd have a vehicle that could muster that trail someday. Keys should be in my sweaty palm as soon as they get the car washed/dried.

Yes and no. Glacier ridge is closer to Georgia pass and the Forks of the Swan trail network. It kinda sits behind baldy and I'm not sure you can connect them on trail. If you're spending the day up here you can easily drive to those trails as they are about 10 minutes out of town.

I you know breck, baldy Is the big "bald" mountain across from the ski resort on the south end of town,, from frisco it's the big mountain that you see directly ahead of you,,, damn! a brand new jeep? nice!!! moose/breck brewery sounds like a good meeting spot..... there the parking lot just beyond the brewery of the (now closed) "Breckenridge mountain lodge" that has tons of open parking.... meet there at 10-11? or what's good for everyone?

and there are a lot of trails up there! bunch of offshoots of the main baldy summit trail that I'd say go up to maybe a 6 in difficulty, I scouted one out that looked pretty fun w a decently steep spot!! and again, tons of camping and hiking w great views of breck

I'm in. Wife and I will go up and have breakfast at Clint's (best coffee shop in Breck, IMHO) and then drive around til we see a flock of dirty, dented, lifted beasts with missing doors, roofs, and other seemingly necessary body panels. Then we'll know we found you guys.

Please promise not to drop my newbie a$$ off the side of Boreas Pass.

Works for me. Let's just split the difference and call it 11:30 at the parking lot in front of the BML.
I'm interested to see where this trail gets up to a 6 rating, I've tooled up around there a bunch and haven't seen much technical stuff.
Let me know if plans change, I'll check again the morning since I'm literally 2 blocks from that parking lot but I'll be there at 11:30
