China Wall, Sat Feb 1

Ran the whole trail last Friday minus the obstacles. Was in pretty good shape for winter. Snow was a bit deep heading down through box canyon but doable.

So if you want snow and rocks this is your chance

Going down through box canyon isn't too bad, the ice in the right turn does add some gusto... I don't think I would attempt going up, it would be kinda like that last hill at Jenny Creek.

We'll meet at the trailhead about 10:00. You can hook up with me at Joanie's Deli in Woodland Park about 9:15 if you want.

Seriously, I'll do a trail check on Friday and if I don't like it I'll cancel the run.

China Wall is a good trail. By no means trivial but with good clearance it makes for an interesting run. Snow makes it more interesting but it's not a problem if you're comfortable with winter trails.

As soon as Doug says Chinaman Gulch is passable I'm heading over there. Now that is a challenging winter trail. I wish he'd drag his butt out of BV and come over for this one, I think he'd have a lot of fun with it.

Yes, Brian, it's winter. Actually the Springs has gotten hit harder than we have so I don't see any problem with the run but it's wait and see. If I don't think it's reasonably safe I'll cancel the run.

BTW does Danny have your jeep?

No one's going to laugh at you Justin. Just doing it says a lot about you. You do what's comfortable for you. When I was over at China Wall last week there was a fair amount of snow in the rocks and I couldn't see that anyone had attempted the nastier ones. Even the main trail was tricky in the nastier spots.

last time I was at china wall it seems like it was getting really rutted out. The trail gets a lot of use I'm sure.
