China Wall Snow Run 12/30/12

Cabin fever time Based on snowfall around here there shouldn't be more than a foot of snow on the trail, but if you're not comfortable running a trail with a foot of snow on it you shouldn't consider this.

CB's will be required. Shovels for digging out trails, if necessary, will be required. Sufficient gear to spend a comfortable night in the great out of doors will be required. Don't expect a winch to get you out of trouble.

Being crazy is recommended but not required. Post up if interested

I mean what I mean. It is foolhardy to assume that you can do a run like this in the middle of the winter and not get in trouble. If you want to play superman go by yourself.

Ed didn't mention food as a requirement so I'm thinking you all are going snow bunny hunting?? As far as cold weather gear goes, might want to bring a -80 sleeping bag. And if someone gets stuck and no winch, means no recovery till summer In all seriousness everyone be safe but have a blast at the same time and keep warm

You're saying CB is required... I'll guarantee I'm more than comfortable with the recovery, survival, and other aspects, but don't have a CB... hasn't been a priority. I tend to avoid leaving people in the group behind, or being the one behind... so hasn't been something I've needed for more than a convenience.

If that's a die hard rule... no worries.

See, the thing for me is safety first, and no comments from the peanut gallery about how I drive. If somebody gets in trouble everyone needs to know NOW. If Brian can set you up with a portable that's fine. I'll make sure you give it back before we leave If not you'll be in the middle with CB's on both ends.

I could pipe in with your driving Ed lol. But I have a feeling you'll probably not race through the trail with the others. Well, you might....happy? lol

Makes sense to me. I take all the safety precautions I can to do what I do. I am still going to do it, just as safe as possible. Ed, there is nothing wrong with your driving, think if you had a rig with a real nasty highspeed suspension

I would like to get in on this run. I have done the China Wall dry, but a foot of snow sounds even better!

A foot is worst case, but that's what I'm hoping for. It's a perfect trail for horsing around in relatively deep snow

Uh, yeah, I don't remember anything like that at China Wall and it doesn't seem like something that would slip my mind

Anybody coming down 285 to get there?

I've never been & would prefer to run with someone who has if possible.

I'll probably go over guanella to get there.
