Craigslist

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I frequent Craigslist and always looking out for a good deal. Lately it seems there has been some pretty nice stuff but these people post nice pictures and spend some time writing out the descriptions but then they don't leave any contact info! Could it perhaps be something I'm doing wrong? I doubt it but I just thought I'd ask.

Some of these ads have been on for months and they do refresh them. I just can't fathom what they must be thinking. I would be concerned if I put something up for sale and after two or three months no one has inquired about it.

Anyways, that's my rant for tonight.

Look for the reply button at the top of the listing. Craigslist changed up their layouts a bit and it's easy to overlook. It is harder if you are using a mobile craigslist app or even the Craigslist mobile site from a phone/tablet.

i'm more irritated at the people that want top dollar for their used junk but when you sell something for a reasonable price they offer you 1/10 of your asking price then get offended when you decline.

(this is based more off musical equipment though, haven't really looked through the car parts all that much)

I never put contact info in an ad... too many scammers and spammers. I have a secondary gmail set up that forwards to my main account and I use that secondary email for craigslist when I post. I ONLY respond to emails and if someone is truly interested and willing to pay what I am selling it for without bartering, then I will email them my mobile number.

I love when selling on Craigslist people want a guarantee or warranty. Its Craigslist not best buy lol. I also always post my number. To much hassle to email.

I hate when people don't put a number. It makes them hard to contact. I always reply with emails. And I NEVER get responses. And I hate being annoying and sending more than one. Then again. We put up my friends number on a "free tahoe" ad because he thinks it's the best thing in the world. He got over 300 calls. It was pretty funny.

I know I've put a lot of stuff up on CL and have pretty much sold all of it. I prefer the email, and if someone is really interested and we've emailed a few time to ensure they will show up, only then will I give them my cell phone number. As a matter of fact, I'm just about to post up on CL when I can get a good photo going. And no I don't put up high prices, I research what Jeep websites say and what other people are posting the exact same item, if I can find it, for. If not, then I go way lower than the websites.

I've sold quite a few things on CL over the years: motorcycle parts, 2-3 year old appliances, some Jeep parts. I've typically gotten each item sold within 1-3 days; apparently I price my stuff low. I usually sell my items for less than half as I don't like to take up space in the garage or basement.

I'm flabbergasted at the high dollar amount most people want for their used items, especially for stock parts. If you want to get rid of your products, you can't ask for like-new prices. I see this with wheel/tire combos from stock vehicles. Why would I pay that much for stock tires when I can buy new, aggressive mud tires for the same?

What gets my goat is when they post up something for sale, then don't respond when you do email/text them.

I hate when people say "feel free to call me or text me anytime" but they didn't even put their number in the post.

That's the problem. There are a few nice things and no contact info.

I've sold a lot of things on CL and I, too, won't post my personal contact info. I just let CL link to my email and that way I can weed out the morons, and there are a lot of them out there!

I've also bought a lot of nice things and for the most part I think most of the people are pretty decent and easy to work with. It just irks the hell out of when people are not smart enough to realize the reason their stuff isn't selling because they never put their contact info on. There is one ad that's been up for three months and the guy keeps lowering the price and refreshing his ad. I want what he is selling but I can't contact the bastard.

My faith in humanity has been totally soured by idiots.

I always say the world needs an enema.

Keep your eyes open though because good deals do come on Craigslist often...

There is a HP30 on Craigslist right now for $80. I can tell you they are not as available as most people with think... it took me awhile to source mine.

with that being said it is saturated mostly with garbage.... but keep your eyes open :-)

xj cherokee dana 30 complete front axle - $80 (Lakewood)
I am doing an axle swap on my cherokee and removed the entire front axle assembly. Lug nut to lug nut including control arms springs shocks track bar steering etc.

Its out a 94 with 150k miles. High pinion non disconnect non abs.

Will only sell entire thing as it is taking up space in my garage and I want it gone. 3.54 gears.

$80 come and get it. Cheaper than the junkyard, plus its all ready to load and its been in the garage so its clean and not all rusty.

It's been good to me too. I scored my Rubicon D44 (with brakes) with alloy shafts, stock shafts, and front D44 shafts for $600. Then I got my HP30 with an ARB locker (beat up) for $300, and then a Rubicon 241 4-1 T-case for $600. Oh yeah, my Tuffy rear oversized box for $200 too.

Geeez...maybe I should do a build thread titled "Craigslist Build"

Most of the folks go for the tires, there are so many of them and they're so cheap. A lot if it is junk. However, people do take their stock Jeeps off road and they do damage them. That's probably the biggest plus. Spare parts are cheap.

That's awesome, I've been watching for a year for a rear D44 and haven't been able to find anything. I like the craigslist build idea!
