Just an FYI all Texas an California residents must take an approved Colorado driving class before residency status will be provided!!

I'm just a little ways south of you in Farmington. I couldn't pass the driving class for CO so I had to stay in N.M.

That'd be awesome! The wife and I usually make a trip or two up to Silverton, just haven't been able to make it so far this year.

Welcome to CO. I'm from Colorado Springs as well, but will be down in Ouray the first part of August.

I will be in Durango Aug 7th, then working way over to Ouray, Telluride and eventually Lake City then up to Gunnison.
Deciding which trails to get in on three day trip.
Suggestions?

Check the Ouray Summer 2013 thread. Lots of good info and pics in there.
Black bear Pass
Immogene Pass
Poughkeepsie (ask chad to pronounce that for ya)
Picayne Gulch
Engineer Pass

Most if those trails connect the towns you mentioned.
Traildamage.com is good site.

Have someone coming in from Texas.
Was thinking Black Bear to Telluride, Imogene back. One day or can't be done in one day?
Then finish the next to with Engineer pass to Lake City and put towards Gunnison back towards Buena Vista, etc.

Good plan right there. Yes you can do black bear and immogene in one day. We always do it that way, long fun day.
Add Picayne gulch from Silverton to Ouray on your way up from Durango and you've got a heck of a trip plan.

I'm moving to Durango for school end of August. Should be all settled in by beginning of Sept. Looking for a wheeling partner? Beware I'm not going to be driving a jeep, I'll be in my Tacoma.

Edit: Also, if you need help with your project, let me know.

Is there enough time to do Picayune pass in same day?
Looks like two nights and staying at Purgatory.
On last day looks like Engineer pass over to Lake City.
Have to do lots of research on things.

We'll be in Ouray from August 5th through 9th or 10th. We are looking at doing Mineral Creek, Governor Basin, and Corkscrew Gulch. My folks are coming along on their ATVs, so no really difficult trails for us this time around.

Humm... Cinnamon Pass and Engineer Pass look like good trails to take for day trips in both Silverton and Lake City.
