Elk hunting!

Hey everyone,

I had bought my elk tag for the second season and I never hunted around here in Colorado springs. Since I am from Oregon. Was thinking about around the eleven mile area. And advice or thoughts? Thank you guys!

I know of a good spot outside Paonia. Is your tag area specific?

A lot of Elk in Teller Cty, behind Pikes Peak, Rampart Range, Mueller State park (when they open it to hunting) all good areas that are close.

Trose23-- I have been searching for years yet to find a one durin. Hunting season. Any other day I can see them all the time.

Like stated before, there is a nice herd behind pikes peak.
I normally hunt saguach(sp?) area 68, it's been bad the last few years, going up towards meeker this year, iv been there a few times. Not bad country and a decent herd up there.

I hunt are 55 (Gunnison County) every year. We usually get 1-3 a year with our group of 4-6.

I've been hunting 23 out near meeker and we can usually pull out at least one animal with our small group. Last year we got a cow and a buck. Can't wait for November!

I use to go to Meeker and stay at Sleepy Cat guest ranch. I here it is
a private residence now. Last Elk hunting I did was west of Kremling Co.
