Back in action

I got the Jeep back last night. I've now had the "I have a new jeep feeling!" twice with one jeep in 6 months. Best drive to work this morning ever.

So the skeptical New Yorker in me was waiting for the deal to fall apart, the dealer to try and pull a fast one, upsell me into a new Jeep or some other move to benefit them but it never happened. I'm not sure why, but apparently the Director of Finance just decided to help me out of a difficult situation. When I spoke with the Service Manager, another native New Yorker, he seemed incredulous that the Finance guy was able to pull this off. He said something like "I've been doing this a long time and there aren't many people in the business that can pull that kind of favor out of their ass."

All said and done I got a brand new 3.8L engine, all parts that could've been affected by or caused the initial failure, a 3yr 36,000 mile warranty on the new parts out the door for $435. Not to mention that this all came together in about 1 week.

I'm pretty amazed at how well the people at Vista Auto in Silverthorne treated me considering I've never bought anything from them, even had so much as an oil change and they are not even one of my clients, (I do business with the other dealerships in town). Tim, the guy I dealt with, has been there for about 6 months and he seems to be setting a new example of how do business in a small community.

Pretty stoked to be back on the road. Do I have to break this thing in? I've never had a new vehicle....errr....engine.....

I'd break it in if you can. I'm really stoked for you! Make sure to call corporate and tell them about your positive experience.

Yeah John, that is AWESOME! It's a new engine, follow the owners manual for break in procedure, you don't want to mess it up

Congrats John. Like Chris said. Pass the word around about the good service. Too many people are quick to spread the bad word and not the good. Glad your back on the road. THink he might be able to do the same on an 82 CJ ? LOL

Thanks Mike, I agree people are quick to spread word of negative experiences and much less likely to spread the positive ones. I've been telling pretty much everyone I talk to about it.

Ha, not sure he can convince Chrysler to warranty an 82! I'll ask though.....ha

Sorry just finished reading thread really good to hear everything worked out well for you. That's really cool. Please don't forget to change your oil after 500 miles on your new engine or u may really hurt the engine just saying. Again glad to hear all worked out

Yeah that's the second time I've heard the 500 mile oil change. What's the deal with that? The Dealer that did the replacement put my "next oil change" sticker for another 3,000 miles.

Yeah no on brand new engines no matter how much their cleaned there is still stuff in there that will scar and clog your engine terribly and if its not changed within that 500 you can perminately damage your engine. So unless they did a 500 mile Dyno on your engine it needs be changed
