Even A KIA can do the Black Bear Road!

This is a true story! Now usually when somebody says "it's a true story", it's not, but in this case I personally know it to be true. I saw the KIA at the water crossing, and there is a video to prove it happened!

The story... Fellow alone in KIA starts over Black Bear at Red Mountain Pass on Sunday afternoon. He ignored the high clearance 4x4 sign, and ignored the "One Way Traffic Ahead" sign as he blissfully worked his way toward Telluride. He actually made it all the way to the off camber steps just above the water crossing when he chickened out and tried to turn around. He slid off the trail and spent the night.

When his rescuers arrived, he was facing east bound on the steps ready top slide into the creek. He was in shock and it took awhile, I was told by the rescuer, to talk the guy into getting back into his car to steer it down the rest of the way after he was winched back on the trail and turned around.

So don't let anyone tell you Black Bear can't be done in a pure stock KIA 'cause it can (with a little help of course)!

Here is the video proof. It's a Facebook video so I'm not certain it will work but here goes... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater

I once followed a guy in a Buick LeSabre up Mosquito Pass. He almost made to the mill coming up from the Alma side.
