HELP!!! Stranded in Boulder

So I go out to my jeep to leave for the day and I hit the key and I have power but nothing else.. Lights are bright so I don't think it's the battery.. I'm guessing the Starter?? I'm in dress clothes and Its hard for me to crawl under my jeep.. UGH.. What do you guys think? Starter went?

I had the death click too. Lights bright must be starter .... But no turns out there is a safety switch on clutch so you can't start in gear. Where's the fun in that. Replace switch drive another day.

could be the ignition fuse. also turn the key and pull back the shifter. then slam the shifter back forward the try it. also might try starting it in neutral.

Make sure you have a good connection on the Battery and everything is nice and clean, check all the fuses. then give another go.
If it still won't start post back up and I'll see if I can get the trailer out of the storage lot.

You're awesome Chad. Hope he figures it out. I'd also help if I weren't in the Springs. Actually in tx at the moment :-(

My TJ had the same prob out if no where. Battery good, pulled starter and got it tested good, checked distributor plugs cables good, fuses good. So I jump started the Jeep by bridging the two connectors on the starter and it started fine. It was the plastic actuator pin in the steering column.

Fix with $25 with a push button start from pep-boys

I kinda skimmed through the thread... Is your jeep cranking? I know a few weeks ago my camshaft position sensor went out. It would crank but never turn over. I could use all the electronics. It was an easy 60$ fix. Not including the hotel fee... Ha

Something similar happened to my TJ. I think mine was an emission sensor? Rollie might remember what it was.

Amy and Paula also had similar things happen. Not sure what their outcomes were... but camshaft sensor sounds close.

Not much info, but maybe others can chime in?

I was thinking the same thing Corrie. However it sounds like Chris's isn't even turnover. If it was cranking then I would say either the Crank Shaft Sensor or the Cam Shaft Sensor.

Yeah it's not even cranking.. No noise from the starter what so ever.. I'm at work now.. Beginning to take the steering column apart. Going to see if it's the actuator pin.. Advanced already has the part for me just in case.. But i'm going to pull it out and try the screw driver trick.. Then I will hopefully have an update.. This is frustrating..

So to recap..

Fuses are good
Starter relay is good
Ignition relay is good
Waiting on my boss to get in.. To try the lights thing.. See if it could possibly be the battery.. Then if it appears that way.. i'll take it in to get tested...
I'm not getting any movement out of the starter.. None.. So i'm thinking it's that.. Cause it's not even attempting to spin the starter, throw the armature into the flywheel.. Nothing.. I jumped the two posts on the solenoid last night and it spun the starter.. So i'm guessing I have a good battery/Connection??? Unsure at this point..

Off and on today i'm going to tinker with it and try to establish what it could be.. I also read somewhere to rule out the neutral safety switch put the transmission in reverse and if the backup lights come on then it's not the NSS. Not sure.. I have turned the ignition and Shifted through all the gears just in case.. Still nothing..

Thank you all for the help.. I'm determined to resolve this darn thing..
