I think it will be best served to go the last week of July this year.
July 25th through August 1st. Weather should be grand this time of year up there.
Definate trails will be:
Black Bear pass
Immogene Pass
Poughkeepsee
Placier Gulch
Alpine Loop.
there will be some fillers as well like Corkscew, Maggie and Minnie Gulch, etc.
So mark you calender and get some reservations made....
Corrie and I can't wait to see it all again and to share the awesomeness of the time with you!!
HOORAY FOR OURAY
Thats not too far. 261 for me now that I moved a little closer.
418 is doable in a day. I go just over 400 to Moab every year.
Trust me. It's well worth it
It's to pretty of a trail to run at night. I'm thinking maybe corkscrew. Would be an awfully cool picture if we catch a full moon over the top of red mountain.
I was just saying BB to get you guys all fired up lol! :happyyes: It WOULD be cool, however, it's only one leg of the journey. We'd still have to do Imogene or something to get back into Ouray. Something out in the open would be really cool...like Yankee or Governor's basin. I bet the night photography would be amazing! And it's out and back.
Hah, guys Im no stranger to driving, just drive 1100 miles to SPI Texas in one day. I put around 100,000 miles a year on my vehicles combined. But 418 miles for a summer trip is pretty tough for a farmer to do. That's the busy time of year.
If you've never wheeled Ouray, it's time to go! It is well worth the drive. I've done it 3 times from Texas (about 16 hours one way). 9 more years to retirement(I'll be 51),then Ouray every day!!
Great to see this thread up already!! We can probably make it!! Just need to juggle a few things but should be no problem.
So Justin, Lets get a map together and get camp sites close by. We enjoyed staying at the KOA last year even though it really isn't our type of camping. I did like getting breakfast at the little restaurant there! And I guess I liked a hot shower at the end of the day. (Actually I just found the map of the camp sites from last year).
Pump already as I've been working on the jeep the last few months!! And Bobbi can't wait to do Black Bear!!

For sure Craig. We are hoping for a spot with trees or some sort shade. We stayed there 2 years ago and thought it was very nice. Nice to have a restaurant and general store right so close. I'll shoot you a message and we'll coordinate. OURAY OURAY OURAY haha.
