Just Moved to CO

Greeting fellow Jeepers!!

I have just moved to Colorado this past week from Virginia. I was hoping to get some advice. I noticed that emissions testing stations wont test 35" tires. What can I do? I am living in Boulder County and need to get emissions tested.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Welcome!
Several shops rent stock tires for the testing.

Welcome. Some emissions places are more lenient than others. I used to work at one. And I hate the boulder one. The dacono station I think is the best but it's a little far. Id make sure your aired up all the way when you test. They'll let you on with 35's they just may not fit. Some do some don't. I would try it first before I went and rented smaller tires

Check out the emissions station in Longmont, along Nelson or Airport Road. I worried about this as well when I moved to the state < 2 years ago and actually stopped in and talked to someone prior to testing. My 35s measured closer to 34" so they tested me. They barely fit, but it worked. I couldn't find anyone up here who rented smaller tires at the time. Good luck.

Thanks everyone for the advice. When my jeep gets here later this week I will try to see if I can get into a station that is close, otherwise I will rent some. How much should I expect to pay if I need to rent them?

Thanks!

Another great reason to live outside of the Denver Metro area. Welcome from Park County where we also don't have emissions testing.

I also did my emissions there, my tires say 35 on the sidewall, I had them measure them. They measured them like three diffrent times. Each time was the same result, 34.5" (as it they were going to grow). They ran it through just fine. Oh BTW I have 15x10 rims, this makes the whole set up look wider.

I am bringing a set of factory JK wheels and 32" tires to my shop in Golden tomorrow; my co-worker is running 37's on his JK and he needs emissions this week. Depending on how soon you plan to get the testing, I could probably keep them somewhere at the shop and let you borrow them for the day. My shop is right down the road from the Golden emissions testing station, too. PM me if you're interested.

If you get your emissions tested on a Saturday when I don't work, I can rent you mine. I am picking up my first wrangler tomorrow. It is a 1995 yj with stock tires. You could emissions tested here in Denver. I have a full garage and we can switch your tires there. maybe 60 bucks. Which will help me with some minor fixes I need to take care of.

Either way. Welcome to Sunny Colorado!
