I figured it was, I do it all the time. Haha. But it was still cool all the same. Probably even cooler by the fact that it was an accident. Took a picture showing how much fun y'all had at the exact moment she sent that. Lol

This was just a great trip all around!! Even with the little extra excitement that happened in my jeep. What a great group of people. I will keep my eyes posted for the next trip. I would post some pics, but they would be duplicates of what is already posted

Thanks everyone for coming out and making this a great day with the family. A big thanks to Gellato for mapping out the trails and leading the way. And anther personal thanks to SETI1x for bringing up the rear and making sure no one was left behind.

We had a great time and can't wait to do it again. In fact, the wife and I talked a little about starting a Colorado Family Jeepers "club". CoFam Jeepers for short. Nothing formal. Just a little tag to go by to know the trails and such are more family orientated with plenty of stops for the kiddos to get out and mess around. I know my girls started to make friends with some of the other kids during the "pit stops" and we'd love to continue this trend.

Here is my pano shot of us all lined up at the start (it's big!), I'll post more tonight:

wellllllll, my kids were standing up in my jeep and enjoying the ride with the wind blowing in there faces. you know those little hills every once in a while that we were going over? well they asked me to go a little faster over the next hill. so, here comes the next hill. i go over it pretty fast. the next thing i see is my little one straddling my winsheild (1 leg in, 1 leg out) my oldest one is grabbing here to keep from falling on the hood of my jeep. pretty scary stuff. i'll never do that again!! when i was talking to my oldest daughter later, she said that she herself was about knee high to my roll bar! it gave the people behind me a little scare also.

I also did a GPS Track record of our trip. I paused the time when we stopped and got out of the Jeeps (expect at the very end, I forgot then ) So, the time show (minus about 30 mins at the end) is just for the driving portion.

On this one, I did not Photoshop all the images together to show the entire trip's speeds. I can if anyone is interested.

That last image is pretty neat if you open it up to see the full size. It shows our elevation changes through out the trip averaged every 3 minutes.

Is that from a GPS device, or from your phone?

It an iPhone app, MotionX GPS. The features are pretty cool, but it has a few drawbacks depending on how you want to use it. It's limited on the types of maps you can download and store in your phone (no Google maps), if you have not downloaded one of their maps and you lose cell signal, you get no map data, there is no easy way to share your "track" (as they call them) with people that do not also have the app. You can email it to people directly from the app, but they don't get all the cool charts and the map is only good for 6 months and then it is removed. There is also a Facebook share function, but it does not post anything to your actual FB wall, it put it on the apps special FB page and sends a link to all your FB friends.

I was really hoping it could post all the charts and info right to a FB wall so that I could start a FB page for all the trips we do as a group and just publish them there. Oh well, with a little Photoshop work it can be done.

I can put one together for the later part of June. Both of the runs I'm looking at are more of a "destination" run, so not as close by as this last one.

I'm still working out the details, but...

Trip A would be a pretty long drive, do a single long trail (rated 2-3, so like what we just did difficulty wise) and then the return trip home. A very full day of driving... but with great options for anyone wanting to stay the night/camp at the "destination".

Trip B would be a little less driving to get to the destination, and we would have 6 trails all right in the same area to run on. Most are rated a 3 (tougher end of what we just did), one going up to a 4 and another up to a 5 if you do all the obstacles. Again, the "destination" would offer great opportunities for anyone wanting to stay over night or go camping.

Give me a day or so to work it out and I'll start a new thread with all the details and photos/maps. I'll run a poll in the new thread for us to decide as a group which trip we want to do.

I like the sound of the second one, more time on the trails, rather than spending all day driving to one trail. Plus, i think everyone's Jeep could handle a 3-4. Especially the guys that climbed the last rock. Which since the stock rubi did it, and two of us managed to do it without lockers, we should all be fine. Lol

No offense, but there's not a lot of people in this group that are going to be comfortable with any amount of extreme rock crawling, they have their wives and kids in the Jeep, have almost brand new $40k Jeeps that double as a daily driver, and or/are pretty stock. 3-5 is probably as comfortable as most people in this group would be willing to do, and that may be pushing the comfort levels for some people. I'd be down for running some tough trails with you (I'm building for crawling... All I still need are my lockers and heavy duty diff covers), but if you're looking to be running Slaughterhouse, China Wall, Eagle Rock, etc. This is probably the wrong group of people.
