we may not have a choice but find a way to get it on a trailer. I just dont want full spool to go thru all the effort of getting a trailer and going up old stage just to find that we cant get it down to the road

Personnaly, I don't think anyone would take any parts off it if it sits till you get a box. Sux that the world isn't trustworthy anymore. I've seen nice jeeps all alone up there and nobody has bothered them. but there is always that risk.

Hey guys, at this point would another hand/ rig serve a purpose?
It's a hell of a drive for me, but I'd gladly come help IF I can be useful.

I'm VERY strong at trail fixes as sledding most of the time requires them, and happy to take a beating & freeze my balz off if I can honestly be of use.

It sounds like you guys have it handled if you get the parts needed, but knoing I can make it there, and knowing I'm comfortable with field fixes I figured I'd at least make sure you're not lacking... it's hard to tell who's in & who's not here.

Btw, the trail is a 4, a stock rubi should walk through, if not up some particular obstacles.

LoL, I'm sitting here in my coveralls waiting for something to trigger me into action. I got a feeling chainsaws will be needed.

carquest was a bust as well.

We can't be concerned with getting the rig down to Goldcamp. We don't have an option so we just do it.

Is old stage iced up?

Well, for sure Danny John and I are in and I am quite certain that between the three of us we are crazy enough to pull off almost anything.

No make the run tomorrow, but I really appreciate the offer to help

Most of old stage is thin packed snow, just barely covering dirt traction wasn't bad. It's a very dry snow.

Agreed, obviously I am concerned for my gear, but it is not in a good spot for people coming up the trail. You won't see it until you are already up on it on a tight snowy trail that would not be fun to turn around on.

most likely in spots it is. So it appears that it is now a recovery mission? I am in for what ever this winds up being.

so lets make a decision as a group. Should we go with the beta we have. no parts, but a willing trailer and enough resources to get it to the road?

It's up to the group but at this point I say our efforts are to get it to old stage and if the trailer is an option we take it off the mountain.

Well it doesn't look like we'll get a box before monday so from that point it's recovery. Next question can the get a truck/trailer up old stage. Danny you're the best one to make that call.

I think it is doable with a good 4wd diesel and trailer.

Hey guys im not from around here but dont mind lending a hand while im in town. What if u were to hook up a tow bar like what u would use to pull it behind an rv. When u tow them that way u leave ur steering wheel unlocked as it would be with the box broke. Just a thought like i said im a stranger to these parts and dont know all the details here. But would like to help.

Why don't you just pull a box off one of your guys jk and take it to the broken one, get the jeep down the hill then take it back off? Just my 2 cents may be a stupid idea.

I've called a few places up here in the Denver area with no luck, but most are closed at this point. I can try calling others first thing in the morning, and if I happen to get ahold of one, I'll bring it down....

Thanks chuck, I appreciate the help. But hold off on buying one. I may have convinced myself to get something a little better.

Don't you guys be all pissed off at me, but I didn't get that trailer. You procrastinated too long.

It could take all day to get that rig down the hill. Problem is, getting a hold of me to tell me you're at the road. I could still get it in the morning, but getting back there later means oncoming traffic on that one lane road.

Send up a smoke signal or something. I'm never afraid to make an effort.

You're exactly right and that is what we're going to do in a rather slipshod manner. The only difference is to keep the draglink centered which is what we'll do by roping it to the frame. Then the tow rope serves as the tow bar and away we go
