Medano Pass.

Thinking about running Sunday. Difficulty of medano pass? Leveled 2013 JK Sahara. Stock Bridgestone dueler A/T. My dad ran it in his totally stock excursion with highway tires but aired Down some and he said it was fairly difficult in that vehicle and banged it up a bit. But jeep should do just fine right? I saw that thread earlier this year with all the water fun. I probably missed that too?

Its a very easy trail...you'll be fine

i think the only reason he had some trouble with the excursion is because its the size of a small house lol.

Haha yeah that's probably it. He even had a fridge in the back to make it heavier. Lol. Is it pretty scenic?

Its a gorgeous trail. Lots of aspens. Very easy for a stock jeep.

And the big water is during the spring run off it appears. I really wanted to do this trail this year, just never got around to it. It's at the top of the list for next spring though!

Check the website to make sure it's open, it got closed this summer due to flooding and washouts. It re-opened but with the rains this month...

I ran it a month ago and went to the sand dunes. Very easy. I think the biggest thing is the sand but a stock will be fine

I go in the way just outside of Westcliffe. That way you get to run it both ways. And if you go in the sand dunes side you gotta buy a daily parks pass.

That's the direction we are going to run it. Doesn't hurt that my mom has a place there is Silvercliff we can stay the night before to cut down on the driving time before hitting the trail

Didn't get to run it today. Just didn't work out. But next weekend I may. It'll be a little later so hopefully the leaves look a little better.

Can anyone tell me if there is a gate to get into the park if I start this trail in Westcliffe and go toward the park? Because I'll be arriving pretty late, probably after the park is closed, and with the gov't shutdown who knows when they will open up again. Just want to make sure I can get into and back out of the park.
Thanks.

I would think with the government closing down. All the national parks are closed. I bet you get to the top and it's closed.
