Newb-ish

Got a 1993 Jeep, pretty much stock. I now have Goodyear Wrangler Radials on here, all 235x75x15's on it. I've been Jeeping and owned it since last February. Anyone up for some trails a newer Driver and my Jeep can handle? Any trails other than Mt. Herman that would be some good ole fun?

Pay attention to the threads posted here...we'll be making a few runs soon

You should be able to complete slaughterhouse gulch with just a little trouble here n there...when we do that trail you're welcome to go!

Welcome, btw...

Yeah, I get the whole "new parts" thing. I need to save up. Top 5 things I want to do to my Jeep: small lift, 31's on it, winch, lockers, aftermarket bumpers and side guards. lol

Exactly. Just gotta try and talk my dad into helping me lol. He used to have a 99 Sport and was big into rock crawling. He went to Moab a few times and knows what I want to do to mine.

@Colo-TJ: yeah definitely. Having a bit of mechanical problems at the moment I'm fearing, but am up for runs when I know everything is fixed.

@Clay: Haha, I know! My dad used to have a 99 Sport and was in a rock crawler group. He basically had all I want on mine, minus the winch. Wasn't cheap, an kept growing lol.

I really enjoy the trails we run with this group. China wall is a great moderate beginner trail. only one spot of rocky area without a bypass, easily passable with any stock wrangler.
As oldguy will demonstrate time and time again.. The best mod you can get is the driver mod.. More seat time the better.

Sorry I haven't gotten around to saying welcome!

You mentioned Mt Herman. It is a very nice trail and has gorgeous scenery. Be careful about when you take it, if you do. There are some high schoolers in the Monument area that use it as a racetrack. A few of them have gotten themselves killed doing it. Even though I really like the trail I don't do it any more, had several close calls with those idiots...

Shelf roads in general are not a good idea in the winter, but there are a number of fun trails in the Divide area "besides" China Wall. It is better to learn driving trails on a gradient, rather than jumping in feet first. Go to REI and get the Pike National Forest map. It shows every trail in this area, not just the famous or infamous ones. If you have questions about any of them just ask. There aren't many that I haven't run.

Thanks and I definitely will. I grew up and have lived in Monument almost my entire life, trust me when I say I know the crowd on that mountain. Last february/march I went up right after getting my Jeep, with snow up there. It was a blast!!

Ok, 'nuff said about the mountain loonies.

You did the trail in February? Well, you definitely have guts. Like I said I don't do shelf roads in the winter, too many things that can go south. How well do you know the trails up on the Rampart? Since you're a local I'm not going to assume anything more about you
