Well its that time of year where we are starting to dread the near future white stuff. That means its Jeeptober time. This is our last big get together of the year. This is not a sanctioned trip so if you want to participate you are more than welcome.
Our goal in this is to invite anyone with a Jeep to come together and have one last hourah of the year. The dates are October 4th and 5th which is the first Saturday and Sunday of October. We have trails for all levels of Jeeps and drivers. This means rookies are welcome
Easy: Tincup pass is a great trail for all levels. Beautiful scenery and great trail. This trail can return to Buena Vista over Cottonwood Pass. This will take a good 6 to 7 hours round trip. Stopping in St Elmo on the way to the pass feeding the chipmunks. This will be a Saturday trip.
Mineral basin/Cottonwood lake. Headed back up Cottonwood pass then to Cottonwood lake and beyond. Other trails include Hope Gulch and Ptarmigan Lake. All these lead to well above timberline. Nice trail with a few challenges that just about every Jeep can handle. Great 1/2 day trip area. This is a Sunday trip.
Mt Antero weather permitting. Another beautiful trail. It is a bit bouncy on the bottom half but is worth it in the end. Trails off this include Baldwin Lake and Browns Lake. This is another Saturday trip.
Hancock Pass to the Alpine Tunnel/Hancock Lake. Hancock pass is still passable by just about any Jeep. It is just rougher. Once on the other side going to the tunnel is a bit smoother. The trail to Hancock Lake is about the same as the pass. A short hike gets you to the lake. This is a Saturday trip.
Pomoroy lake/Marry Murphy mine. Another beautiful lake to go to. Trail has a couple rough areas but very dooable. This is in theist Elmo/ Hancock area and can be done in combo on either day.
Ironchest Mine. This is an in and out trail. In the St Elmo area this is a rougher trail. Lifted Jeeps are recommended. Lockers will be an asset too. The first 1/2 mile is the roughest. Great trail to give you a challenge. This trail is a Sunday trail comboed with Grizzly Lake.
Grizzly Lake is a great trail too. Lifted Jeeps recommended. The first obstacle is at the creek and Isa challenge for most. Don't be surprised if you stack a few rocks to help. The next 1/2 mile is a shelf road and the rest gets easier. Awesome medium trail for Sunday too.
THE INFAMOUS CHINAMANS GULCH
Chinamans Gulch is a great hard trail thatcan challenge any size Jeep. This is wordy but stay with me. CJ, YJ, TJ I recommend at least 2 1/2" lift and 33
" tires. JK 2 or 4 door 2 1/2" lift and 35" tires. No lockers required but they do help. We state these because we want you to have a good time. If YOU choose to do this trail in a stock Jeep we will help you but you will hold us up. Please don't do this to us. LISTEN to your spotter. I have done this trail close to 70 times. I will make suggestions on what you can and shouldn't do. It is your choice if you want to do it. Many of us have have done this trail so we know it. ROOKIES WELCOME! If you have a capable rig and want to do this trail, join us. We will partner you with someone who has done the trail before. You will have fun.
Poker game. There will be a poker game that we have been playing. You can buy in for $5. Top 3 hands win the pot. This is a Texas Holdem style game played with 2 decks. You will be rewarded extra cards by doing certain things on your Saturday trip. This is just for fun so join if you wanwant
FOOD SATURDAY NIGHT: We are going to change the food venue to a different one. Next to the Loaf n Jug in Buena Vista is Los Girasoles Mexican food restaurant. They have plenty of room for all the Jeeps. I believe Lorenzo and Trish are going to be joining us on the trails. They are the owners of the restaurant. Good food and
I wouldn't send us to a place I don't go to. They know my order
