It looks like the full moon red cone is going to happen. If you want to get familiar with the area before this run, that might be a good opportunity. Jump over to that thread for details, but it's the weekend of July 12.
As a vet, I'm going to try and make this, but I can't confirm yet.
It may be time to start thinking about potential alternate trails in the event that Red Cone / Webster Pass isn't opened by the 26th. Maybe Bill Moore Lake if it's open by then. Damn late start to the high pass season this year.
I have no issue with a dog in my rig as my dogs ride in it all the time. Only problem for me is that I plan to meet you at the trail head and not down in the metro area, so someone will still have to bring them up the hill.
Here are some photos from our run today. Notice that the snowpack is still substantial on Webster Pass. I don't see that melting in a week so we'll have to head out via Montezuma Road. Trailered rigs are not advisable since you cannot get back to the entrance point without taking the long way around!
Cool. Not exactly sure. I just sold my motor home and the buyer is coming to pick it up around 10. As soon as he comes I'm free. I live in Lakewood so if you want I can pm you my address if you want to meet up here and then once he leave we can go.
We are one week out from this event! If you haven't signed up yet and want to, get to the sign-up thread and do it! It is absolutely beautiful up there!
We will be eating lunch (bring your own) in the valley right below Red Cone. We will also be doing some pistol shooting during this time if you would like to join. All I ask is that you be responsible and police your brass and targets.
When we start the trail, please STAY ON THE TRAIL. There are wide open areas up there, but STAY ON THE TRAIL. When we get down off the pass for lunch, please park on the dirt roads not on the grassy areas.
