Penrose the 14th - Carnage on the 15th Trail Run

Just aired out the new 40s at the Dakota Challenge, had a great time. More importlantly, no breakage.

Looking to wheel Penrose and Carnage. Then I thought; I might as well do them back to back on Saturday and Sunday and make a weekend out of it.

For Penrose, I usually just drive down Independance to Bunker Hill and up Patriot.
It's been a few years since I ran the easier section ( I had to when I bent my hydro ram at the beginning of Patriot). Depending on how long it takes to run Patriot, I wouldn't mind running Liberty.

Post up here if you're looking to go on the weekend, we can put it together.

I might be in for this weekend run...... But I definitely will want to run liberty. (Never run it).... Did the down bunker hill-up patriot run yesterday. Good times. LONG drive for me from breck (made it this time in the jeep too)..... My one attempt at carnage so far resulted in a snapped inner axle shaft.... Looking for a re match with that trail. Then the jeep will go on jackstands to get worked on for the early October moab/grand junction trip

Cool and no problem.

The last two times I've run Carnage, I've broke. 1st time, outer stub shaft, replaced it and kept wheeling. 2nd time, Hiem let go in the rear, took a few hours to fix and replace it but kept wheeling. I too, would like to run it without breaking. Matter of fact, I've broke in the same place on the trail twice.

I'm in North Denver and it is 1.5 hours just to Colorado Springs, Penrose is like 40 minutes from there. I would leave on Friday if I could.

Wow! That's rough! But I admit, I'd much rather break there than post notch! I thought I'd play it safe and not try to power through the obstacle like the rest of the people running it.... Ran a winch line, then BAM... I think I bound up the front tire a bit though... And after pulling the shaft, it was evident it had been cracked a long time so it didn't take much.
