Regear advice:

So I wanna regear my 2011 2 door automatic so I can run 35's. I don't know what gear ratio, where to have it done or what else should I do. Should I get the artec truss too? This is my daily driver and I currently run 33's. Any and all advice and reccomendations needed. PS I'll be back on trails within next couple weeks for the season. Thanks
Mike

Woohoo. It'll be good to see ya Mike. I would think you would like 4.56s or 4.88s.

Check out Colorado jeep company and I would recommend the Sleeve and gauset kit the truss is great if you can afford it also but the sleeve and gauset kit is the most important or you will bend the front axle (ask me how I know) as far as gearing go with 4.88 or 5.13 if you plan to go to 37's ever go with 5.13's

This is the number to Colorado jeep company

Things are great John. Retired life is awesome. It will be good to wheel with you again.
The guys at Pollard are hard core wheelers and really know their stuff. I highly recommend them.

I think when I looked into it.. the 4.10 was perfect for 35's and 4.88 for 37's on the 12 auto. There was a handy chart somewhere on some forum... but I cannot for the life of me remember where it is.

Is yours the 12 auto as well? I know the gearing was slightly different between < 2012 and the 2012's. Am curious though as those graphs are slightly generic and our elevation and trails really make a difference... and since I am looking at upgrading to bigger tires end of the year, I have to consider a gear change as well.

Mine is a 07 auto but I have driven the 12 on 4.10's with 35's and it's not that bad but if your gonna spend the money it's not that much more to go with 4.88 and it will save you money when you decide the 35's are to small lol

Yeah, I already have the 4.10 which is why I was wondering. I may stick with them and get 35's... or upgrade the gears and get 37's... depends.

Any shop worth your money will be able to show you the math at what gears are best for your rig's current and LOOONG term build plans.

Got a few quotes so far. Northridge 4x4 was about a grand less than high country 4x4. Northridge says 5.13 would be perfect but he recommended the Artec truss kit instead of the sleeves since he says they typically see jeeps that have miles on them the axles tend to not be perfectly straight to get inside there.

I'm waiting to hear back from a few other places but northridge 4x4 quoted me parts and labor $1250 for just the gearing.

That's what I thought. But they wanted about another $1200 for the Artec truss and LCA skids (parts and labor). Not sure if that's good though.

I can't tell you what is a good price because I have never installed that truss but that seems a bit high

Northridge did tell me the 5.13 would be perfect for driving but putting it in my front dana 30 could pose problems later on if I'm not careful since the teeth are too small. He said as long as I wheel smart on the skinny pedal I would be fine. Does this sound right? Is that a concern?

Never heard anyone say that your main concern will be the Dana 30 bending

Find a different mechanic then. A D30 only goes as deep as 4:88. You'll need a D44 if you want 5:13.

Not true you can hear the d30 to 5.13 if you want 5.38's you have to go to a d44

Do you think the 5.13 is too much? Should I just go 4.88? I'm only gonna go to 35's.
