Slautherhouse Gulch: 2/5/12

Figured i'd post up and see if we have some people going...

i'll be in on this if we can get a couple others to go.

Basically thinking we meet at 10:00am at the gas station on CR43 in Bailey and head out to the trail at 10:30am.

Hit the trail and stop for some food and some bs at the bottom (half way) before goin back up.

Thoughts?

Haha, i would but the trails up in boulder are pretty short to get me to go all that way...slaughter is about 12 miles long...only way i'd be talked into it would be to attempt both "middle st vrain" and "coney flats" at the same time (they're really close together) and coney flats would be too difficult of a trail for a stock vehicle...i'm sure even i'll have trouble in that trail...

Almost all the trails around nederland dwarf China wall... and the middle saint Vrain trail and Coney flats actually connect with each other. I am not sure that you can do the water crossing at this time of year though and the middle saint Vrain is the most difficult of the two. Middle Saint Vrain you pick up at Camp Dick and travel up to the top Which is the end of both the Coney Flatts and MSV.. This is the spot named Coney Flatts.. if you travel across the Saint Vrain River then you are now on Coney Flatts trail. it comes out at Beaver Res which is Private and then meets with HWY 72 (Peak to Peak hwy) at the Boy Scout Camp. This is a little rocky but passible with stock vehicles. The MSV has Huge Boulders and a couple of mud boggs that would make it difficult for a stocker especialy if the lines were not taken perfectly.

Well, depending on what this stormfront coming through on Thursday/Friday does it could all be moot. Yesterday it was a 40% chance of snow, today it's been bumped up to 70%. I love playing in snow, but Slaughterhouse doesn't sound like a good place to do it.

I was just about to post the same thing, ed...

Supposed to get in the 10 inch mark and i'm all about playing in snow...but that 1,000 ft downhill doesnt seem too appealing haha

We could just raincheck it and go the following weekend...either way i'm sure we'll make somethin work

Well, since the probability of snow is now up to 90% You can either pull the covers over your head, which I will probably do, or go out and play slippy-sliddy

Me either, although I'm thinking of setting up chains for both the front and rear

Well, it's definitely a raincheck, cuz' I really want to do that trail. So, as soon as it clears again, we go

Just hope it's not May...
