Soft Top Windows Help

Hey all, I am getting everything ready for my trip to Ouray a week from tomorrow and one of the last things I need to do is to get my Trek Top NX windows back on for the ride down there. My windows are DIRTY from the winter and I didn't realize how bad until yesterday. What is the best way to clean them without scratching the living crap out of them?

I was thinking dawn dish washing soap and an old t-shirt, am I on the right track?

I wash mine with a bucket of water with a squirt of Dawn in it all the time and they still look great. I use a very soft sponge to clean them, and then dry them off with a clean soft towel. What ever you do, never wipe them while they are dry. I always carry a plant spray bottle with water and a towel in my rig in case I want to clean them off away from home.

Perfect! Thanks for the reply, and that's a great idea about the spray bottle, I'm gonna pick one of those up.

Neal,

A friend of mine gave me a product called Plexus. It's used to clean and protect motorcycle windshields. Its made specifically for plexiglass windows. I usually take a hose to my windows and get as much dirt off as possible before I use the Plexus. Also, I use a very soft cloth to apply it. The only thing bad about is that it is expensive. but like I said, my friend gave me 3 cans of it
Have fun in Ouray!!

Good to know I'll check it out, I paid enough for it and I'd like to keep them as good as possible for as long as possible!

Will do, I'm sure I'll have pictures galore from the trip I'll post shortly after I get back.

I don't know how you plan to store your windows in the vehicle when they are removed, but for the stock top, I use a Clover Patch Window Roll which keeps them looking new. They use sheets of felt between, underneath and on top of the windows, then roll em all up and stuff them in a bag that attaches to the roll bar near the tail gate. I don't know if that would work for your top, but I've been very happy with it for the stock top windows.

x2 - not sure if you noticed Neal, but I had my windows in the Clover Patch Window Roll on our run on Twin Cone last Saturday.

I just got a bottle of the Bestop Vinyl window cleaner from the local 4WP. A bit spendy for $13 a bottle, but it worked amazingly on my windows... couldn't even see out of them before. It takes a lot of the minor scratches out, as well as cleans; it's actually like a wax, you wipe on/wipe off.

Thanks for all the responses, I'll check out the clover Patch not sure if it will work for the windows from the frameless top but worth checking out. I'll pick up some Plexus and use sparingly and use the dawn and warm water for the more often cleanings.
