Spring turkey hunting

Anybody hear from division of wildlife yet...regarding spring turkey tags? I got the bow last weekend and did some shooting getting the itch again!

I have the Big Game book so it doesn't show anything about turkey. Maybe check here Turkey | Colorado Parks and Wildlife

WHAT??!! There's spring bow season for turkeys here? That is just awesome. Back in Virginia bows are only allowed during the short fall season. Well I'm going to have to pull the bow out and see if the shoulder is well enough yet to get back to form.

Thanks for the heads up

I'm headed to OK beginning of April for a Turkey hunt but want to murder some CO turkeys as well. If someone is serious let me know. I haven't done any turkey hunts in CO yet and would love too but I don't know where to go.

Oh yeah!
Spring turkey starts April 13, too late for draw units but you CAN get over the counter (OTC) tags. OTC tags cover a big portion of the state. No Spring bear season here but there is a fall season and the archery season is a MONTH loooong! Dang, it's not even Spring yet and I'm thinking about my fall hunts...

What part of CO do you live in? I'm down in Springs...lots of good areas for birds. What's your preferred weapon? I like doing the things the hard way...archery only.

I'm in castle rock. I prefer shotgun and that's because I have never done archery nor do I have a bow.

What part of Oklahoma are you going to? I just recently moved from there.

Nice area...lot of birds just South of you in Springs area. Plenty of public open space with good bird populations. I won't hold the shotgun against you.

Good to know. Thanks for the info. I'm excited to see how different the turkeys act in the mountains vs the plains type of terrain I'm used to and how the seemingly constant wind will factor into how useful any calls are

I saw a few birds when I ran slaughterhouse back in the fall, but not sure where I should start looking. Any help is appreciated

It has more to do with the weather here than anything else... The WIND especially in spring out here can be brutal. One minute you're hunting the next you're an idiot sitting in the woods with a bow or gun. I've been chased out of the mountains more than once by snow showers and wind. You can contact DOW they will help too. I like to find units that are draw only then hunt the borders. You're welcome to head out with me too if you're interested...

Nice!

I went to Edmond, OK last weekend and we stayed at a friends house. He has 20-30 turkeys in his back yard every morning and evening. I was so tempted to shoot one with his bow but I decided against it.
