Sunday outing

Took a little ride off old stage today to get the boys out of the house. beautiful snow up there, most of the trails had no tracks so we got some fresh powder to drive through. Saran wrap was untouched and I was tempted to make a quick loop, but I was on my own winch less and thought I'd be pushing my luck.

Thanks! Yep those are my knuckleheads. Helix the German Sheppard, Jager the husky Sheppard, and Cody the mini Aussie.

And now I understand your handle!

I have my own crew of misfits: Rufus, rottie and chow, Tess, chow , Maximus, Shepherd and keeshond, and Jill, keeshond. They are all nutty as fruitcakes but I would trade them for the world

Chows are awesome! Kind of like Siberians, attitude, attitude and more attitude. In their behavior they are more like cats than dogs. "Tell me what you want me to do, I'll think about it and get back to you..."

Yep, you've deciphered it!. looks like you've got your hands full too. My grandparents used to have keeshonds, cool dogs. I don't think I've seen a rottie chow before, I'm a big rot fan though.
I might take Helix out sometime, he can play pretty rough with other dogs though and sometimes it escalates so I'm reluctant

Thank god there's nothing else to do but go on a jeep ride on a Sunday. Had a good time today.

What made me wonder was the haunches. That low drop is pure European and typical of the Chech and Bavarian strains. Plus they don't have any where near the hip problems that the American strains do.

Well Rufus looks a bit unusual, you can see the rottweiler but he is red like most chows. He kinda looks like a pit bull on steroids, but he has one of the sweetest dispositions I've ever seen in a dog.

Yea, his parents were imported from Germany and his lines go way back in the world of shutzhund (sp?) Competitions. I started training him on it for the first few years but didn't have the time to stay with it. He is still a pretty badass tracker though. hard to believe he's already seven. I got him from a breeder in conifer. Pricy, but their Sheppards are legit.

Wow, no wonder he looks so awesome! Tough to find pure European strains. There is a guy over in Florissant who breeds pure Chechs. I have met several of his dogs, one belongs to a friend of mine and is almost pure black. His primo sire is pure black and unbelieveably beautiful.

Awesome, I think pure black Sheppards are awesome looking. Something both sinister and majestic about them at the same time. (forgive the cornyness)

No, Brian, there is nothing corny about it. When I see an animal like that I am in awe, in the bliblical sense. Can you imagine a more perfect vocation? To breed, train, and compete one of the most majestic animals to ever grace this planet?

I found a link to his pedigree: Streiten Van Den Heuvel

If you love black shepherds this is the paradigm!

Thanks for the info Ed, I had a black & tan shepherd before and he was the best dog I ever owned hands down. I know where to go when I get another one.

This was my Opa (shepherd) and my bassett hound, Ms. Audrey,

Thanks Ed. I'd pass that on but I don't want him to get it in his head lol. I'll try and get him out one of these runs, see how he does.
