Thank God I was in my Jeep

I never thought I'd say that when I just got done with a 8 hour drive down the highway. My wife wanted to give her car a break since we just drove it to Nebraska over Christmas. At first I declined, because I knew it wasn't going to be the most comfortable ride. Eventually, I went along with her idea, because I realized it would be a good opportunity to see what kind of mileage I would get since I've heard horror stories on here.

Needless to say the trip wasn't that bad. I definitely need a stronger steering damper though (every big bump was an adventure).

Everything was great until we went over trout creek pass. Just as we were going down the hill and getting ready to go around the first curve towards BV, I noticed two sets of clearance light coming over the hill. Yes, two semi trucks side by side on a double yellow. Not wanting to freak out my family I immediately started looking for an out. The only option was to slow down as much as possible and take the shoulder that wasn't even as wide as the jeep.

Thankfully, since I had the jeep, the maneuver was effortless, and me and the car behind me escaped harm. Hopefully the Semi driver was called in by the other tanker that he passed, because he should be taken off the road for a stupid move like that. I would've loved to have spun around and pulled him over, but I'm guessing that wouldn't have ended well no matter the outcome. But needless to say, my family and I are glad we were in the Jeep!

An encounter like that can leave you with nightmares. That driver should have his ticket pulled, no question. If you got any numbers off the truck call the company and the HP.

Yeah, second time I've been in a situation like that with my family in the vehicle. This one was so fast I didn't even have time to panic. The last time a high school kid pulled out in front of me to get on the highway. He stopped right in my path as I was going at least 65. That maneuver, to this day, I can't explain, but a half a mile later I was on the shoulder having a panic attack. I guess Gods looking out for me and my family, but I've had enough of these close calls.
