I actually choked when I went out to walk the dog this morning, which means the wind shifted south over night. That is not a good thing.

Thoughts and prayers to all of you guys in the Springs. My sister in law was mandatory evacuated last night and couldn't even go to her house to get her stuff. Let's pray they get this out and some rain wouldn't hurt either.

Sorry to hear she couldn't go back. It looked like a frenzy up there last night with all those poor people fleeing.

Too bad they can't just do an Honorary Firefighter Program, get a bunch of volunteers to help. I'd be all over it. I know its more complicated than that though.

My ex roommate from Tacoma, WA is part of the Forestry Service Fire Fighters back there and her and her group has been down in the Springs fighting that fire for the last week. So I do know for sure they have brought in external help, unfortunately it's just not enough.

With wildfires there are federal special training requirements because of how much more dangerous than a structure fire they are. Trust me me and my guys would love to go help but I am not going to risk my life doing something I'm not qualified to do.

Well I know that last night a BDE was called in to assist in preparation for the evacuees. Today some of my guys are escorting heavy equipment to the fire to build fire line faster. I don't think many people know because of how secretive the military is but I KNOW an EN BN is on its way there.

I got called in at 7 last night and was working until 6 this morning. Just doing what we could to prep. Getting supplies ready and gathering donations.

Thank all of you for your concern. As it stands right now we're ok, the part of Woodland Park that was evacuated was along the upper part of the Ute Pass rift and we're quite a ways from that. My jeep is tucked away at a friends house over in Divide which is as secure as any place up here. We won't leave unless we're forced to since we'll be traveling with four dogs and three cats. Don't want to do that unless we absolutely have to.

Once they get the pass secured we will be ok. Biggest concern right now is the fire moving along the front face of the Rampart. I've spent a lot of time up there and as far as a fire goes it is a nasty, nasty piece of work. All canyons, gulches almost impossible terrain to deal with. My prayers right now are with those fighting in that living hell. We're just sitting around waiting. Nerve wracking true, but nothing of any real concern. If you want to do something for me pray for those who are fighting that monstrosity, they are the ones who really need it.

I'm glad everything is working out for you at the moment. Hopefully the fire will get put out soon. And they will find the pos that started it. Like I said if you need anything don't be afraid to ask
