Trying to find a jeep.

Does anyone have experience running a carburated 304. Do they run well in the Mountains? Or would you suggest a Fuel injected? I have money burning a hole in my pocket but I am not sure which way to go. I am leaning more toward FI. Looking to buy a jeep here real soon....

They run fine, when properly adjusted. We were running carbs on all those trails before FI vehicles got here. That's the engine I have in my CJ, and it's more than capable.

That said, you may want different needles in your carb for altitude, especially if you're a "heavy foot" type driver.

Fuel injection is just a plain better technology: better mileage, easier maintenance, runs better at steep angles....blah blah. You know this. Plus an FI engine will most likely come surrounded by all the rest of a newer Jeep.

Buy an old Jeep because they're cool, classic and represent something. Not because they're "better."

My advice to you is to find a jeep that already has a lot of the aftermarket stuff you want on it. They were mostly fuel injected after like 95 I think... sure I will get corrected by someone cause I don't know exactly.

I just bought a 2000 TJ that had a 6" Procomp stage 2 lift and aftermarket bumpers. also came with an island top that we will love in the summer time and it only had 73k on it. I love it man.

Good luck in your quest!

Yippee! It'll be fun in the high country. If the snow ever melts. Looks like they're getting more right now.
