TWIN CONE aspen change this weekend

Hey all, been a while since I've been out.

Either Saturday or Sunday I plan on running twin cone. The aspen trees should be starting to change and it should be downright beautiful. This trail can be run with stock jeeps but also poses challenging optional sections for the crazies. This is a family run for me so we'll be taking a picnic break as well. I'm flexible on the day so which ever works for most we'll do.

If the leaves are changing this would be a beautiful run for anyone interested in a scenic trail ride. I've run the trail twice, once in the summer (green leaves) and once in the winter (no leaves). There are areas of the trail where the trees close in on you and it's like going through "tunnels" of aspen trees. Both times i've run it i spent half the ride telling my wife, "we really need to hit this trail when the leaves are changing, it has to be beautiful".

If you're into scenic trail rides and someone's able to confirm the leaves are changing up there I'd say do whatever you need to do to make this run.

I'm at 7,500 feet about 45 min from there and our leaves aren't changing here yet so I'm not sure they're turning on Twin Cone but I guess they could be changing up there where it's a few thousand feet higher.

Either way it's a beautiful trail. If you're lucky enough to catch the Aspens changing that's just the icing on the cake!

Just an FYI, i've got a friend who lives and Fairplay and he said the the leaves are turning at his place and they are really starting to turn at higher elevations. Though I'd pass that info along. Wish I could make it this weekend, but already made plans. Sounds like it might be a beautiful run. Can you post pics if you make the run? Thanks

Yea, we'll be sure to take pics. I ran it last year when the leaves were changing and as Chuck said, you are engulfed in Aspens all around. It's beautiful for sure. The scenery is the objective here, but there are about 4 spots you can get your crawl on if you are so inclined.

are you thinking of going on Saturday or Sunday?

I was going to go with High Country 4x4 on Saturday and hit Kingston Peak, but with their start time I'm going to be too late getting home, so i'm probably going to hit that early Saturday. . May be up for Twin Cone on Sunday, provided my leaky waterpup doesn't get worse.
