Wheeling Friday (3/22)

I've got family visiting from IA and my brother-in-law wants to hit a trail on Friday. Is anyone else available? Also, any recommendations on trails close to Boulder and North? I've hit LHC several times, which is awesome, but would be interested in trying something new.

I wheeled LHC with you sometime in February. I believe you had an XJ and was impressed with you climbing Big Momma open/open.

If the trail is open, Middle St. Vrain works for me. I'd want to start 10ish at the trailhead since we'll be brew-touring in the evening.

I saw pics of MSV somewhere within the last week and it was pretty covered up. I'll try to find them

Bunce school road is open year round from hwy 7 to the gate. MSV is closed until June or early July.

XJ/ZJ; they're all the same, right?

At this point, I'm thinking of doing Yankee Hill out of Idaho Springs on Friday. It was open in February and we wheeled through the snow so I don't think weather/snow should be a concern. And it has a fantastic panoramic view, including St. Mary's Glacier, that I think my cornfield-viewing family from IA should enjoy.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

Have fun, but you probably won't make it to the top of Yankee hill just yet. Somebody posted a pic on fb from last Friday and they were frame deep in snow and winched out and turned around if I remember correctly

Thanks for the warning. I did call a friend in Idaho Springs, and it sounds like its not too bad over there currently. But the forecast indicates we may get a little snow up there on Friday. It will be an adventure.

Cool. So far, its 3 rigs: You, me (TJ), and a Land Rover. Plan is to be in Central City at the trail head at 10:30. Heading up Hwy 6/119 through Clear Creek Canyon outside of Golden. You can meet us at the trailhead or PM me and we can meet somewhere on the way; not sure where you're coming from.

I don't know the particulars of the Land Rover but its a good friend of mine, and I've wheeled with him a few times in it.

There is a parking lot on the south side of Hwy 6/Clear Creek Canyon Road, at the intersections of Hwys 6/58/93. Here are the coordinates: 39.753799,-105.240151. You can punch those into Google Maps. Meet us there at 10:00AM tomorrow and we can then head up to Central City. I'll PM you my cell number.
