Winch Accessories

I posted this on the TJ forum but wanted to post here as well...

So my wife picked me up a Warn VR8000 I will be mounting it in the next week and wanted some opinions of what necessary accessories I need to carry for recovery.

I am thinking a tree saver(2x8), snatch block(20,000 lb), recovery strap(2x30), d-rings and gloves.

Am I missing anything? Should I replace the tow hooks on the OEM bumper with something else for recovery?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

sounds like you have the essentials covered. I keep my winch covered so if you wanted to get a neoprene cover for it that helps keep some goop out of it.....

Haven't even thought about that... Makes sense especially with the exposure to the elements and Mag-Chloride they put down here...

I'd say chains and one more tree saver so that you can attach yourself to a tree while pulling. Of course always good to have a strap, so you can save 30 feet of winching if it's long distance too.

Neoprene cover is the way to go. You have to treat the cover though.

If you are getting a strap to use with the winch make sure it's a tow strap not a recovery strap. You don't want a strap that stretches while using a winch.

Guess I got lucky! I didn't even know there was another kind!

Hey Justin, I'm about to get a cover for mine, what do you treat them with?

I got warns neoprene cover which actually came with a small bottle of the solution. I think you can get the stuff at Walmart thought.
