Nope no a lot in the forum in Utah. Lots of good stuff though in Logan Utah as there are tons of backroads.

Another Utah member here, in Lehi. New to this forum but have lots of Jeeping experience all over Utah county. (I don't get many chances to go on long distance Jeep trips.)

A group of us took 6 Jeeps out to "Little Moab" (west of Utah Lake) today. Snowy, icy rocks are a serious challenge to climb.

Little Moab! I've been there, observed for a while, watched a WJ roll. The wife wouldn't let me crawl anything else that day.

Oh and I live in Orem, own a 2001 TJ.

When can you register for The Jeep Safari?

I'm still here. Jeep is down for another couple of days with tranny issues, but I'll be back in the saddle again soon.

Hello all. Picked up a 08 JK Unlimited Rubicon couple days ago. I used to have a 74 Bronco I took out to what I believe is called West Mountain (west of Utah Lake) but didn't really know where to go (just moved down here from Alaska). I sold the Bronco about two years ago but we just bought the Jeep since we really didn't want to scratch up our 05 Expedition but still needed something family friendly we could go play around with. Is there any chance of getting the gps coordinates or a map link to the "Little Moab" area. Thanks hope to see ya all on the trails.

edit - also I live in Riverton, can I ask where most of you get aftermarket (heck even stock) parts around the area (Ogden to Provo) maybe even farther. I know of 4wheelparts on Redwood, what else is around? I'm old school in that I like to look at it before I buy it if possible. Thanks

Welcome to the madness!! :-)

Teraflex has some stuff in their showroom. Other than that, KSL has lots of stuff for ya. Not sure how much Dr. Jeep has for the '08 but it might be worth a shot if it's stock replacement parts.

I know this usually goes without saying, but I'm taking no chances: never never never go out on a Jeep trip with only one vehicle!!! Always take a buddy or two in case of some unforeseen disaster, especially in a remote area such as Little Moab.

Having said that, I don't have GPS coordinates handy. I know you head south on Redwood Road, and the turnoff is right near mile marker 7. This dirt road is perpendicular to Redwood, and you'll see some sort of house/building there on the northwest corner (it sits a bit off Redwood, but it's easily visible) along with a few scattered decaying vehicles. Now just head west around 4 miles or so. "Little Moab" will be a small sandstone hill sitting off to your right; you'll leave the dirt road and take one of a few dirt trails that lead right to it.

If that doesn't make enough sense, I'll have to try and make a map when I'm at home.

Thanks for the great info & I agree the wheeling & the buddy system go together. I think I've been out there a couple years ago. Thanks for the GPS coordinates, I work as a helicopter flight instructor, so I'll plug those in and go check it out from above first. Thanks again.

Yep, I thought the same thing when I first joined. But, considering I've been a Jeep owner for a year and a half and only found this site a few months ago, I figure give it a little time and anyone who actually uses their Jeep for anything other than hitting the mall will eventually be on here lol

Got a chance to take my new to me Jeep out today with the family. We went out on the Pony Express Trail from over by West Mountain out to Simpson Springs and back. Took a little bit to get to the gravel and snow packed section. I was very pleased with how it handled the washboard parts of the road without skating around or feeling like the back end wanted to come around. Very happy with our first Jeep so far.

On a side note it seemed everyone we ran across was either pissed off or had just been pissed on, seemed like quite the unfriendly bunch out that way. Even got flagged down out on the gravel road at an intersection by a couple guys in a truck who wanted cigarettes and whiskey. Thought for a moment I'd wish I had brought more than two guns So hoping the rest of Utah away from the city isn't like this.

What? Why? That seems to be a very reasonable question, no matter the context
