Do you know why Barlow was closed?

Looks like a very scenic trail.

I have no Idea. I was going to look it up when we got home and I forgot. If I remember after my client visits today I will see If i can figure it out. I'm wondering if it had anything to do with fire season.

Nice report and pics! I've got the same pic of the narrow spot. lol. The doors off made it even more dramatic for me. Had my wife been with me, she would have made me let her out...

Well the wife and I went camping off the Barlow trail, only a short part of it is closed 1 mile in from the hwy 35 side, 6 miles in from the Forest road 43 side. Its b/c of 2 bridges just past devil's half acre.

The place we wanted to go was past the road closer so we went in from the other side off FR 43.

On the way out I wanted to see the bridges that where bad so we drove out that way. Came to a sign that said bridge closed but it had been pushed out of the way. So I slowly tested it out. (probably not the smartest move). It held up fine, no movement, creeks, or groans and I was in my 3/4 diesel that has a curb weight with our gear in it around 7200 lbs.

So its closed due to unsafe bridges. If you need to go somewhere past the closed part you can come in from the other side. For safety reasons I wouldn't recommend using the bridges.

There was a time I would have gotten out too! Yeah I had my tube doors on LOL Still I rather have the range of visions with the tube doors to make sure I cleared the drop off LOL

Nice to Know Chris! Those bridges seemed just fine when the 10 of us went through a couple weeks before. :-)

We didn't bother checking it out, we decided to explore else where. Glad we did found another trial we wold love to take the group on. But it will most likely have to wait until next summer.

took Bennett pass to Badger lake today. Bennett was a lil scary in spots. When I turned on to Grass hopper rd i found a rock in the road.

With my tire rubbing the rock I had about 6 inches to the ledge Pretty nerve racking.

Didn't bring a pole. Was scouting for a camping trip next week. Beautiful little lake. I thought I was going to try and make Badger lake via Bennett pass in July with snow. Not much room for error in some spots.

LOL that place will fill up fast on hot days, but you do have week days off so maybe it won't be to full.

If we go to Badger I don't think I'll be taking that route with the jeep fully loaded as it gets a little top heavy.

So, where's Bennett Pass? Can I run it in my JKU? Could a stocker run it?

It is on Mt. Hood and yes a stock JKU could run it just fine.

Sweet. I am sure it's pretty easy to navigate!

Obviously I am not a stocker, but I may want to take one with me!

Take 26 east to 35 north. Couple miles up 35 and there will be a sign for Bennett pass. Have fun.

Just make sure you get the vehicle usage maps for Mt. Hood National Forest before you go. they are free at the Ranger stations.
And if it's on a day we have Gas money and nothing to do we may tag along if you want company LOL
