Best CB Option

So I went on my first 2 group runs this past weekend and like most newbie's I quickly realized how badly I need a CB!!

I'd prefer to have a unit that isn't permanently mounted and I can just throw it in when I head out for a run.

What's the best option or what do I definitely need to avoid?

I have an old school cobra, I take it out of the jeep after wheeling. D&R communications in Clack in my ass (Clackamas) is a good place to go.

I have a Cobra 75.

Its mounted under my glovebox and the hand unit has a disconnect, so it remains hidden away from prying eyes.

x2. Some complain about the sound level and have purchased an external speaker to compliment this particular unit. I am happy with mine.

Thumbs up

Uniden 510XL... The most reliable CB for the money hands down..
Look more indepth and elsewhere, it truly is...
Some people have good luck with the Cobra units, But there are way more issues with people who have actually owned them too... Compared to the Uniden. This is coming from an ex-dedicated Cobra cb owner as well.
Now the larger Fullsize Cobra's do "not" have the issues of their compact chassis models.

Good luck on your choice either way.. I do like the cobra 75 design, but they have had their issues just like every other compact cobra cb's out there.
You might get a good one though some people do.

I have a Cobra 75 and love it. Takes up no space at all.

She's good. Coming home tomorrow. Doctor said no wheeling this weekend for her for some reason. Lol. Wants her to stay by home. Won't be to long before she's back to 100% and out on the trails again.

You will love it.. I had my jeep set up so I could run it not only disconnected but connected as well.. Just by swaping out the packs.. Had everything lined up in the jeep so it was easy to do..
