Are you refering to this mod?

Quote:
Reach inside the tank and cut the vent tube (use sharp knife not a saw) within an inch or so of the inside of the tank wall.

It's not a lot of fun and relatively hard on your starter

from what i have read is the tank in the tj is a 19 gallon tank, but the vent tube is longer in side the tank so it will kick out the pump at 15,. my only issue is i dont have a jack tall enough to go up to my tank. and the plastic lock ring on the pump didn't want to come off the one time i had the tank out so i am sure i am gonna need to buy one just in case it breaks off

You use a jack to get your tank out? I just uses my impact driver to get the final bolts out and held the tank up till i could lower it on to my chest then shimmy out. I ran my tank empty tho, carried 2gals with me till i ran it out. But anyway the YJ has the same issue Chrysler went cheap. They used the same sending unit as the 15gal tank and capped off how much fuel goes in. When you do the mod you guage will be off as the sending unit is set up for 15gal tank. So you needle will be past the F mark untill you get down to 15gal. Well thats how mine turned out any way
