I am probably going to do a quick drive today down 6 and take one of the trails to test another set up for my dash mount cam. I have several that I run while driving the forest. You'd be amazed at what you capture on video when trail riding...even stuff that you never see when it happens until you get home and watch it over on the full screen. I love the Northwest.

Hey, I have my fender flares off and it looks like I may have them off for a little while, is Mr. Policeman gonna give me any problems with my 31" tires sticking out from the original Jeep fender?

That all depends on the cop and the area, or if you look suspicious :-) seriously it all just depends. some people get away with stuff and never have an issue others get tagged for stuff.
In a lot of places it would probably ( don't quote me) be a fix it ticket. if you fix it and prove it the court will drop it.

Straight of the ODot website.
FENDERS

6) Does my vehicle need mud flaps/mud guards?

Answer: Non commercial vehicles (under 8,000 lbs.) need fenders or mud guards (mud flaps) within 27 inches of the pavement behind all wheels. Commercial vehicles need fenders or mudguards (mud flaps) within 10 inches behind all wheels. (ORS 815.180)
Fenders and mud guards (mud flaps) must cover the entire tread width of the tire(s). (ORS 815.180

Took the jeep up into the Monument Peak area south of Gates on Friday, stopped by snow at 4,000ft when I crossed over East Rock Creek, forgot camera

Went up again on Sunday on the wr250r, and remembered the camera

2 1/2 hr ride, burned about a gallon of premium
I think that whole area will be snow free in a couple of weeks...........

Other then the local junk yards, where can you buy the bulb sockets and wiring for the side marker lights on the Wranglers? I have 2 broken ones with un-usable wires and sockets rotted away. The lens' I can find easy enough...but my regular places don't have the ability to buy the bulb socket and attached wiring. The fender flare job has turned out to be a biggy....I may not ever get my Jeep back together....Dang.

shewoolf thanks for the info on flares...I figured that was the law....it's the same in Maryland where I was born and raised; anything that sticks out past the fender is breaking the law. Florida lets you pretty much drive monster trucks on the road. Now I gotta get my Jeep back together so I can have some fun with this upcoming weather.

Your welcome! Like I said it all depends on area and cop as to if you have an issue. I see people all the time with tires sticking out. But i'm the type of person if I do it, I would get dinged for it LOL

Ive had my yj since august and while at browns on the 31st i was stopped by a shariff out there and he mentioned that as well about mine. But nothing other than saying hey you need new flares buddy. My first knowledge of your tire needing to be covered completely.

I have secured the part from Vinnie's friend up in Washington. The guy is driving to meet me to save distance and his price is right...cheap. But, I am going to keep the information you gave me for the next time I need something. Never can have too many part outlets. Thanks WMac.

So, I finished getting everything back together and ya know what???....I kind of did a stinky job. The fender flares are definitely the same color now, which helps in the appearance, but I paint crappy. I did my wheels and my fender flares at the same time. The wheels, which I thought was going to be tough, actually turned out decent. The fender flares, which I thought was going to be easier then the wheels, turned out to be the booger. I found some busted steel up under one and missing wiring, bulbs, etc. Now having it done, the wheels look pretty cool black, but the fender flares need some mud to cover the paint job.

TSF Bates Trail #24 work party

I would like to schedule a TSF Bates Trail work party on the week end of July 23 and 24. How many would be able to attend? We could work until noon, trail ride in the afternoon. You can attend one day or both. You can camp over night on Sat if you like.

Still seeing a lot of jeeps with their hard tops on here in Oregon, what's up with that ??
My soft top came down 2 weeks ago, it may go back up a few times, but, I'm not zippin' in the windows til late Oct !!
I'm sayin' a JK/JKU with the hard top on in the summer is really just an H3

LOL a lot of people only run with hard tops especially if they do a lot of off roading. I'm not one of them :-)

My window's are out a lot. Top never comes all the way off. but my husband made me put them back in last night before I power washed the mud off LOL

LOL, the only time I run topless is when I know I won't be wheeling for awhile.

When I'm out on the trail, I usually run anchor. Many times, TSF gets very dusty and being in the back in a topless Jeep can be discouraging while trying to breathe .
