Oregon offroad permit

Where do I get one? I've never bothered to get one in the past but figure it's about time.

I miss the days when GI Joes was still around, and you could purchase OHV permits through them.

Yes in designated OHV areas. They are only $10.50 for 2 years and the money goes to maintaining the OHV areas.

Washington state you either one or two permits to go to the couple of ohv parks. Each permit is 35$ and last for one year. I chose to wheel in Oregon its cheaper.

Oregon, you need a NW Forest Pass where required and a ATV Permit where required.

Washington, you need a NW Forest Pass where required and a Discover Pass where required.

Those two passes, I've never been in an area in Oregon where nw forest pass was required.

Any US Forest Service area "can" require a NW Forest Pass, including Oregon where posted. In fact at Sand Lake it talks about who needs a NW Forest Pass there.

You only need a NW FS pass at Sand Lake if you are sand camping or parked on the sand(or you can pay the nightly sand camp fee). You do need the ORV tag though regardless.

Same with camping in Federal forest. If you are in a camp your camp fee includes a permit for the days you camp, other wise to park in most areas in a National Forest or dispersed camping you need a Northwest Forest pass.

Thats one thing I noticed about moving here from the east coast. All the fees to use anything here. There is non of that back east for most places. Not like here.

With that said though I have a lifetime NW forest pass and can get a free annual Discover pass ( I think, its the state park vs the national forest ) all for my time in the Military. I hate talking stuff for free for doing my job, but my wife made me do it.

Snow park pass was a bit much for us when we lived there but the OHV pass was well worth the money as it allowed us to go from here...

to here...

and here!

God, I miss Oregon!

That was just west of Diamond Lake Off of Hwy 230 at the base of Mt. Baily. We turned off 230 onto NF-3702 and then on to Hemlock Butte for a mile or so for an elk hunt. Glad we had 4WD for sure!

This was what we had to wake up to each morning...Stinks, I know!
