Something to watch for fun

Sorry I could not make the meet-and-greet last weekend. Looks like many of you are getting together for the "Unkle Fester" run in October. My bad, but I don't think I can make that date because of work. However, I did go up to Tillamook last weekend and the conditions were great! Just enough mist to keep the dust to nothing and hardly anyone was out there so it was nice and quiet. Here's some more video. The first is "Firebreak 5", the big rock in the center is gone, but it's still fun, that segment is at 6:45 in the video. This was the first time I drove on all of FB5, and there are some nice technical spots at 12:46.

http://youtu.be/ac2CM9XMrD8

The second video is "Rocky Uphill" but I went east to west so it was "Rocky Downhill". Anyhow, enjoy.

Rocky Uphill East to West 9 9 12 - YouTube

I think I will probably head out again just for fun since summer is winding down, anyone else up for it?

Hopefully me and the wife will make this one since I screwed up on the last meet and greet. Since I'm on vacation that week I won't have to work that weekend.

A little correction on those videos....

So it appears that I am still learning how to work youtube... the first video was too long, I guess Firebreak 5 can be that entertaining. Anyhow, the first video clip shows the "famed" rock segment.

Firebreak 5 North to South I - YouTube

The second segment, which I found is pretty fun to do too.

Firebreak 5 North to South II - YouTube

And the "Rocky Uphill" link is this one:

Rocky Uphill East to West 9 9 12 - YouTube

All the best-

I go to the West Linn clinic for my own care, but I work at the hospital. And again, thanks for the heater switch info. I never would have figured it out myself.

It is different, I do like having 4 seasons to wheel in vs. a wet and dry season on the island. Plus the craft beer is awesome here in the Pacific Northwest .

I am currently into HUB's Ace of Spades Imperial IPA .

TSF Update 9/17/2012

BEALL Stephanie A stephanie.a.beall@state.or.us
3:44 PM (27 minutes ago)

to undisclosed recipients
Hi Everyone,

Due to rising temperatures and oncoming east winds we will be going to an Industrial Fire Precaution Level 3. What this means for trail use is that ALL OHV TRAILS in the Tillamook State Forest and BLM Upper Nestucca OHV Areas are CLOSED until further notice. Riding of ATVs, dirt bikes, four-wheel drives, and side-by-side UTVs is now roads only in the designated OHV Areas.

Please help spread the word. I will keep this information updated on the TSF homepage at: State of Oregon: Oregon Department of Forestry - Tillamook State Forest .

If you have any questions please feel free to call Jahmaal Rebb at 503-359-7464 or Dave Hiatt at 503-815-7024.

Thank-you for keeping to help the forest safe from wild fires!

Bummer

Wow, that's a drag, I was going to head out there this Wednesday. Bummer. Maybe now is not the time to pull up to the ranger station with a bunch of gas cans, marlboro's, and bottle rockets in the back of your Jeep.......

You do not need to register if you are just planning to come and check out the show. There will be a parking area that is set aside for visitors that are not participating. The word Show in this event is a little misleading, usually you would think of shiny & clean. At this show you will see some, but these are jeeps, so you will see some trail hardened ones with dents, scratches, mud, and other things you might not see at a normal show.

It is best to register at: https://www.facebook.com/events/490537704291857/
so they can have a good idea of how many jeeps will be there for parking and also if you will be with a group they can make sure that you are parked with that group.

Made my day

Since I couldn't go to Tillamook today, I decided to drive around the Beaverton area in my Jeep (topless of course) just for a little joyride. I was being followed by a police car and I started to think I had some moving violation ticket coming my way so I decided to get gas and basically get out of his way. When I was at the pump, the same police officer walked up to my Jeep and started asking questions about my wheels. I thought "here it comes, beadlocks have been debated forever about being street legal vs. not street legal and so many forums have said 'I got a ticket for mine', so now here's my ticket coming." As it turns out, lo' and behold this police officer drives a Rubicon with Walker Evans' beadlocks! So then we started talking about wheels, then tires, then Jeep stuff, move onto gears, and then start talking about off road stuff and before you know it, we shook hands and parted ways. Wow, you know you are in Jeep country when a cop goes out of his way on his beat to stop and talk about Jeep stuff. Who knew? Usually when a cop talks to you about your car, I think it's because he/she is deciding what ticket to give you.
Of course, we were yabbering so much and for so long, I found out the attendant at the gas station didn't even fill my tank because he needed my Zip code for the credit card and we were talking too much he didn't want to interrupt. How funny. Maybe I can push my luck, rob a bank with my Jeep, talk Jeep stuff as a distraction, then drop it into 4-Hi and make my own getaway. It would probably be my luck that the police officer in that scenario drives a Toyota FJ........
Kudos to the Beaverton Police!

Man, I still can't wait until Tillamook opens up again....but this still made my day.

That is good to hear... I think my fenders aren't technically street legal but I think jeep-owner cops will let it slide?

Now you tell me some peeps are meeting Saturday...I was out there all day today. I will probably sit Saturday out, but I will be going Sunday AM to Tillamook. Anyone headed out then?

Here's some vid of my handiwork today. You can see my GoPro capture the spider walking up my windshield at 2:08 with no problems....is that a taunt or what?!?!

I'm going to try to make the 9/29 run, I have a conflicting event but it may fall through. In all my visits to TSF, I've never wheeled Truck Dent. I think it would be a nice change of scenery.

The Jeep's still dirty from Chuck's run last Saturday. By the way, does anyone know if the Blue Jeep that joined us is a member here or is on the FB page? I'd like to view some of the pics and vids he took...
