If you do any wheeling in Washington it is a good idea to have a Washington Discover Pass. The Discover Pass is required in certain areas. We will be driving through areas that require a Discover Pass and areas that do not require the discover pass.

Yes

Newbie, Stock Vehicle, Daily Wrangler Run Sunday April 14, 2013. We will meet at Leonardo's Pizzeria in Vancouver, WA. Our Monthly GTG will be held there that evening starting at 4:30pm.

This run is on forest service roads and power line roads with a few, steep climbs, and a small amount of rock crawling. However low clearance and stock wranglers are welcome and will do just fine.

Depending on the weather and time we will go to Larch Mt area in Washington or we will drive east on SR14 to the Greenleaf Peak power line area and then the Stevenson Power line area.

Bring water, food, money, and dress for the changing weather.

Gather at 09:30am
Depart at 10:00 am
Leonardo's Pizzeria
16505 SE 1st Street
Vancouver, Washington 98684

Damn, I wish I could go!!!!!! When my Wrangler heats up, I get a very loud high pitch whine and I cant tell where its coming from. The noise would drive everyone crazy on the trail. Maybe sometime in the future.

is it a whistle or a whine? I had this awful high pitched whistle when accelerating. It ended up being a stuck check valve in my vacuum lines.

My problem seems to be opposite of what you had, my noise stops when I apply throttle.

My neighbor has a friend with a sound like this in her TJ. I will ask her if she ever got it fixed before she traded it for a JKU. I know she had it at the shop multiple times the last time I heard they could not finding the issue. She is out of town until tomorrow. So when I get a hold of her I will let you know what she says..

Any time, I know how annoying those sounds can be, and how hard they can be to track down.

Hey fltopp1, do you have an idea of what side if the motor it is coming from? Did it just one day start making this noise or has it gotten worse over time?

Its not possible to tell where its from. Ive laid under the Jeep, sat on top of the engine, listened from both sides. It sounds like its coming from everywhere!!!! And it has gotten a little worse since it strated, but it didnt happen all winter until a couple of months ago. (I had it all last summer).

Do tj's have that solenoid that let's more air in when the engine is cold and closes when it warms up? If so, maybe it's not closing all the way.

Oh, that stinks! If you were able to at least narrow it down to what side it was coming from would greatly help. It does sound like air to me though? You could check the IAC valve on the throttle body and maybe check the EGR valve? Those are really the only things I can think of off the top of my head that might cause that type of air sound and they do get carbon build up that would block them from closing all the way? Hope this helps.
