But I won't be stock, I've upgrade the cat and the muffler went with a two chamber flowmaster and some day I may go with a super charger

On Saturday we are featuring the band Timberbound, who will offer two sets of old logger’s songs, including their rendition of “Tillamook Burn.” Also, we will have a special steam donkey presentation that will showcase how this 1880s machine became the workhorse of the woods. At the event you can:

· Meet Smokey Bear & his firefighting friends – receive a free goodie bag!
· Have fun during children’s story time and puppet show
· Eat yummy BBQ available for purchase from the Coyote’s Grill
· Visit with wildland firefighters and see their gear
· Drop a smoke jumper from the lookout tower
· Tap your feet while listening to Timberbound’s old logger’s songs (Saturday at 12:30 & 3 pm)
· Get wet exploring the Wilson River with Tillamook Estuaries Partnership staff on Saturday
· Watch a special steam donkey presentation
· Check out unique seasonal displays, face painting and much more!
· Enjoy free admission, events, and activities. Your generous donations to the Tillamook Forest Heritage Trust help support programs and events like this.

This year’s Tillamook Forest Center “Return from the Burn” event is offered in conjunction with Tillamook County’s “A Step Back in Time” which offers visitors an opportunity to visit several other museums and take a scenic train ride for an all-inclusive $15.00 pass. There was some confusion out regarding the price... last year it was $10 per vehicle. This year it is $10 per person (Kids 12 and under are free). We had a blast last year. Hope to make it this year, too (it all depends on the schedules)

Night Run Sunday 8-31-2014

I'm putting together a night run for this coming Sunday night at TSF. We will meet up at Chevron in North Plains at 7 and head out to Browns Camp/TSF at 7:30. Looking to run some fairly tame trails. I don't like doing anything to nasty in the dark. Night runs give a whole different perspective of the trails in the dark. Should be a lot of fun. Please let me know if your coming so I don't leave anyone behind.

Anyone out there have a set of JKU rubi or X fenders that they would be willing to part with? Wife won't let me chop up the pretty painted fenders.

Portland and surrounding trails

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and the wrangler (actually have not picked it up yet - will be later this month) where can I find resources on good trails for various skill levels. As stated I am new to all this and would love pointers. I love the site for jeep jamboree where you can see some organized trips with difficulty level. Any pointers would be great. I live in NE Portland and would like to start with some basic trails, I am getting a Rubicon unlimited so they have to be trails within reason (I have a wife and kids so don't expect to be doing too much modding to my vehicle other than perhaps a 2" lift and some grab handles). I rather not bang up my rig on my first outing lol!

Thanks!

- H

Hey H, welcome to the club.
Browns camp/TFS is a rather large trail system off hwy 6 about 1.5 hours from Portland. They have a range of difficulty from easy to nope, not gonna do that. Your rubicon will be good for the easy and intermediate trails stock without a problem. Start on easy, and go slow until you gain some confidence. If your worried about putting a few scratches in the paint, then you should re think hitting the trails cause you will likely be driving through some brush and branches along the trails. Often people put events together if you would like to join. Have fun with the new jeep!

I am not clear. Is this event going to take place at Shari's, or it that just the starting point of a group ride?

We are looking to meet some wrangler folks to go play with!

Thanks NWHoneyBadger - I am not so worried about scratches - I will be purchasing a jeep after all - it's a badge of honor :-) thanks again when I get my jeep that will be my first run!

I am not buying a jeep for the look or gas mileage LOL. I want some fun and a new hobby - just need to make sure I keep it road worthy for my family.

Thanks again,
H

PS. I currently own a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee - I am waiting on a buy back from Jeep which should be somewhere around the 18th. I am super happy with the dealer NW Jeep and their service department (Ian my service advisor rocks!) But Jeep really did a number with the 8 speed transmission - have had it in 8 times now for harsh (I mean look in the rear view mirror 'did someone hit me' shifts from 2nd to 1st. The steering clonks and the 5" Uconnect is unable to keep my phone paired without resetting the radio. Bottom line for a 40K vehicle this should not be the case oh and they had to send it to a body shop to fix two crooked doors and rear hatch miss alignment. The dealer service department agrees with me - they even replaced the valve body - the comment 'jeep is still figuring this 8 speed out' makes me a little nervous. Bottom line I don't trust it - the replacement will be a rubicon with a manual transmission I think after everything I would be happier with this. I used to in my youth (I am 39 now) ride around in Alaska off roading and LOVED it. anyways - a little history there.
