weird question...

So my girlfriend and I just bought me the Jeep. It's been lifted and it's got 35x12.50r15 tires. The guy at 4 Wheel Parts wants me to buy a $300 programmer to correct the speedo and automatic transmission oh, and give it more "balls". My question is, does anybody have one that they'd be willing to "program" my Jeep? I can provide beer, or a little bit of cash for the time...

Im not 100% here but, I think that you need to purchase a programmer for your individual jeep.. Most of the programmers on the market can only be used on 1 vehicle at a time.. So for someone to program your jeep they would have to reset there settings to stock... I'm in the market for a superchip flashpaq programmer but the softwear hasnt been made for the 2011 and up jeeps yet... Good luck

^^^^ this!

They are married to the vehicle you use them on. Job security for the guys who make them. To use them on another vehicle, the previous vehicle must be returned to stock settings......

There are units available out there, that are considerably less than $300.

I purchased the Procal AEV for my JK for $130 not too long ago and it works like a charm. It allows you to customize various settings. Here's a link to the manual, if interested

Each programming module is 'married' to one Jeep via the VIN. It's a way for the manufacturer to make sure they sell a lot!

JK speedo's are done electronically, TJ's are a much easier unit to adjust, "except" for the rubicon t-cases if I'm not mistaken.

Hi Jon
Time out...
I think they (4wheelparts) are going about it wrong here.. don't spend your hard earned money on a programmer.
All you really should need is this changed.
Changing Your Jeep Speedometer Gear

If you don't know what your axle ratio is then pm me, and I'll walk you through how to find out what you have with out pulling the diff cover off..

If you want more balls.. the only real way is changing your gears most likely.. especially if you are only running 3.73's or numerically lower.

Yup, changing the gear might be a better way to go.

I only bought the AEV to set my tire pressure monitoring sensor value (TPMS) to 0 after getting new wheels. (The psi warning light on the dash was bugging me.)
It just so happens that it also allows you to set various other features

I guess I am spoiled not having TPMS. I am a fan of my Superchips! Just upgraded to the 93 Octane tune. Gives the JK a little more boost in HP/TQ; I need all I can get pushing this bad boy around!
