We've got a group of some 25-40 Jeeps that gets together monthly in the Nashville area for lunch/breakfast and rides at Wooly's or sometimes excursions over to Windrock. I don't want to violate any policies about mentioning local clubs or anything like that, so what are the rules about that sort of thing?

I just bought my JK this past weekend. I think I can make it out that weekend. I just graduated from MTSU in December so I'll have a chance to see some of my buddies too.
Let me look into it a bit more before I'm 100%.

Anyone else from Knoxville heading out that way?

I do have some questions... I haven't even had her a week and I've never done any wheeling before, so to say I need training wheels is an understatement. I popped over to wooly's facebook and saw some of the pictures: those trails look pretty hefty. Basically I don't want to trash my brand new Jeep. So are there some lighter trails or am I getting in over my head for my first adventure?
As far as basic gear I was gonna pick up a recovery strap. Is there anything else you guys would consider an absolute "necessity?"

Recovery strap, tow hooks front and rear, also a cb radio would be nice, I also carry a fire extinguisher. Also the strap should NOT have any metal hooks on the ends

D-rings are nice if you are running open hooks, harbor frieght a towhook for your hitch for about $10 and it will easily handle you jeep.

So something like this? Smittybilt - 29312B - Receiver Hitch D Ring - Discount 4 Wheel

Normally I'm not nearly this hesitant to jump in to most things but it seems you guys understand that this is an expensive toy and currently my DD.
Thanks guys for the tips!

If you have a trailer hitch that will work, it's what I have. My Jeep is also my DD.

I certainly do! (Thank you stock tow package) I've been thinking the receiver looked a little naked by itself anyway. And here I thought that money spent towards the Jeep would first go to mods. Oh how much I have to learn.
Ya'll are awesome.
