Hello all, i am new to the site and trying to find any trails near Gatlinburg TN, and/or Pigeon Forge. My girlfriend and I are taking spring break there and cant wait to get out there!! i have searched for many but couldn't find much. I am not after any hardcore trails because i really dont wanna be working on my rig on vacation lol. just looking for leisurely trail rides throughout the mountains. Thanks!!
Go to Cades cove...its a paved road, but at the back, instead of turning in to the tourist area, go straight. Its called parsons branch rd. Its about 11 miles long, hilly, rocky, light mud, very shallow water crossings (depending on rain). Its nothing brutal, but it is nice and easy. There is a sign right before you enter that says "one way...cars not recommended" or something like that. It takes you out to SR129, which is a VERY windy road (I think its called tail of the dragon, but I could be wrong). On that road, tons of motorcycles and people taking pictures they try and sell online. SR129 takes you to the foothills parkway, from there Townsend, which is the back way to Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg. These are when my wife and I went last year.
I also heard Newfound Gap is nice. I really wanted to do that one, but it was shut down thanks to the government shutdown or some crap.
