any turkey hunters on here ???

this is what i wait for all year,,,the best time to be in the woods,,a nice 55deg. morning with the sun just glaring over the hill tops on a strutting and gobbling gobbler that is 20yds in front of you just cant be beat..

anyone else have this addiction,,,i have been a turkey hunting addict for 30+ years..

opening day only called in a hen but was fun start to the season talking with her and taking pics and videos of her on my phone,,and getting the cob webs out of my calling skills..lol

sunday took a buddy and we heard a few gobbles but the coolest thing was he sat down right beside a woodcock(snipe) nest she started doing the running with a broken wing act, i thought we would find a nest of eggs but this is what we found instead..2 chicks already hatched,,never figured that and it was a first for me and all my 30plus years of turkey hunting..

then this morning monday,,i had an awsome turkey hunt ALOT of gobbling and the hens were yelping and cutting like crazy,,i heard the hens get up with the gobbler closest to me so i started sweet talking the hens to come to me knowing they would bring the mouthy 2 year old gobbler with them..
it worked like a charm,,he followed 4 hens into my set up and got all crazy when he saw my decoys....up untill i decided it was time for the shot and to put some fresh turkey breast in the fridge...lol

i use to love bow hunting them but a broken back put an end to my bow hunting..
last time i bow hunted them was when they came out with the gladeator broadheads,,
but i stuck with my wasps,,,and always had great results with those..

make sometime and get out there,,,,there pretty hot now in the middle of the day if you cant get on one early,,hens are starting to hit there nests around noon around here..
theres never a bad time to be in the spring woods,,as long as there is light..birds are hitting there roosts about a half hour before dark..
best of luck..

I got into the show via the Joe Rogan podcast. The host Steve Rinella is an interesting dude. Never really watched hunting on tv before either, but Rinella is fascinating. Not only about bagging an animal for the tv show - has tons of knowledge and experience. He seem like the real deal. Granted I became a fan of his via of hours on Rogan's pod then the tv show.

Went on first Turkey hunt the other day. I was the by-standard as my cousin had the permit. Great fun. Ended up getting a nice Tom.

I have no idea what species they are. We go about 60 miles from where I live in Wyoming and actually hunted them with a Utah special permit. These Turkeys are around Flaming Gorge Dam area. And yes, I did not even get a picture.

Thanks,

Heard very little gobbling. We caught him as he was going into the trees. Not much of a strut. It didn't go like I pictured it in my mind, but we got one. The first day we had a Coyote screw us out of some coming in. It is definately an addiction. It was my first time hearing Turkeys in the wild. Great fun.

and it only gets worse...lol

first time you have a big ole gobbler right in front of you strutting while he is spitting and drumming and gobbling that you feel your body vibrating from it ,,i dont know how anyone couldnt love it..
how many tags do you guys get a year,,,were only allowed 2 gobblers in the spring..or a hen if she has a beard..
