Looking to buy a Jeep Wrangler. Have a TJ I'm interested in ( test drove twice, seems to run fine, mechanics looked at it and saw nothing extremely wrong with it) . Here are specs:
2.5, 5 spd manual
Some seepage at rear diff, some at oil pan (not sure if this is the oil pan or something leaking down from up top), some minor seepage at valve cover. The guy keeps it in his garage and I didn't see any oil stains on the floor, so I don't believe any of it is a full fledged leak yet. It comes with the stock radio, and added soundbar, and a complete tow package. Tires are at about 50%, with some slight uneven tread wearing. Exterior is basically rust free, with some very minor rust underneath, and on nothing important. The passenger front ball joint is completely broken.
WTS: Jeep Wrangler 1998
The Jeep has the option for a/c, but he said the compressor froze up five years ago and he just re routed the belt. He is asking $6200 for it, and he won't move one penny. KBB has it listed in good condition (below very good and excellent, above fair) just shy of $6100. Don't really care about a/c anyways....
Exterior green, half steel doors, tan soft top. Also has a soundbar (side note, I did not hear any sound coming from dash speakers - do you have to reroute the sound from them in order to get sound from the soundbar??)
My only issue is that everyone seems to think that it is a little overpriced, but according to KBB it's pretty much right where it should be. I know I used to be able to find a ton of jeeps for aroun 3 - 4 grand, but nowadays it seems like that is impossible. Or maybe it is just my area. Thanks for all thoughts! Gettin' a jeep regardless, so I'll be on here much more often!!
