Need some (a lot) of help installing a lift

Hey guys,

Im going to be ordering a lift soon and was curious if anyone would be up for helping a complete nooby out lol. I'm located in prestonsburg, ky and I don't know of anyone here that has experience with Jeeps.

It's my daily driver so, probably just going with 2.5". I'm torn between kits right now. Teraflex 2.5 w/ shocks, Rock Krawler, or maybe Metal Cloak. I like these because they allow you to start with one of their lower kits and it's easily upgradable to their best (I'd love to have the 3.5" game changer by metal cloak lol).

For sure man haha. She's pretty much stock for now. Here's how it sits at the moment. Nothing special but I love it lol.

FutureRN:

No worries, the JK lifts are pretty simple to install. I did mine in my garage in a weekend, with almost no help and taking my time. I did the back one day and the front the next day. I would say it requires a medium level of mechanical ability. You need a pretty good set of wrenches and sockets, torque wrench, jack, jack stands, air compressor would be good but not necessary.

Let me know if you have any specific questions, I'll be glad to help out any way I can.

Thanks WarEagle. I appreciate it. When I finally get a kit ordered I'll make sure I have all the tools before it gets here. My biggest concern is since it's my daily driver I couldn't handle it being down for more than 2 days. I'm still in college so, I'm always having to run and I need my jeep. Which lift did you go with? Any recommendations?

cant go wrong with AEV.
i knew someone would help out,,,,--great thing about yours is your not working with 20+ year old bolts and rusty junk...lol
always the hardest part with the lifts and stuff is removing the old,,just make sure everything is tourqed to spec. and you will be ridding good..

awsome looking jeep,,,cant wait to see the after shots...

I have heard great things about AEV. It seems that as long as you stay with major brands (AEV, Rock Krawler, Teraflex, and even though Metal Cloak is new they seem to be good) you will be fine. It's going to look goofy but, I'm hoping to throw the lift on this summer (classes end 5/5) and my tires won't be happening until fall lol. Oh well, hopefully by winter it will be looking good.

I'm in Texas, so the trip is a little too far to help. However, a 2.5 inch Teraflex lift with shocks is an easy install. I installed mine by myself in 1 day. The instructions list all the tools you need, so you can lay them out before you start. Also, Teraflex has a great install video. Read the directions a couple of times and watch the video a couple of times before you start, take your time, and you shouldn't have any problems.

That helps give me a little confidence. I've already watched the video to see what I'll be getting into haha. I just need to make my mind up and get a lift on the way. I'm thinking of either the Teraflex 2.5 with Bilsteins, Rock Krawler stock mod or max travel, or one of the first two Metal Cloaks.

From what I have read, all 3 of your candidates are good. I have the 2.5 inch Teraflex lift with their 9550 shocks and like it. Install should be similar on all the lifts. Take your time and you'll be good.

I'd love to go with a 3.5 kit but, I'm not sure because some people have driveshaft issues and etc.
