uncle j falls 30ft from tree stand

just wanted to update everyone since we have been off the grid for awhile,,,
this past weekend uncle j fell 30ft from a tree stand and is in pretty bad shape, he is really lucky that he only shattered his heel (which is exctremly bad and painful) he almost landed on the barb wired fence that was 2ft from him.,,

he will more than likely have to have surgery and possible heel replacement ,,

for those of you that know him you will belive he do0ne this helping out someone he really didn't know , and was alone when this happened ,,he called me after he had made it to his jeep and was trying to make it to the hospital ...I made it to him and got him to the hospital.

throw a few prayers out for our jeepen brother for a speedy recovery..

Yes I do appreciate all the thoughts and prayer, and thank the Good Lord above for givin me a best friend to stop what he was doing and come to me , thank Nap, ya I live ya Bro!
As far as my ailments, I have broken my leg abouy r inches above my ankle, when I landed my ankle jammed my foot so hard it shattered my heel bone, I bruised some ribs and my back is hurting which it hurts all the time. So no worries there,
Again thanks to all my Jeeping buddies for prayers and thoughts, if this don't sound exactly right that just means the good meds are working....

The bad thing is that my insuracy wont kick in for another two week, so I guess they will see this as a preexisting injury, that sucks

I just got finished taking an online hunter safety course for Maryland. There was a whole chapter dedicated to how to carry your gun over obstacles, under fences and up into tree stands. Then about how you should always have a safety pulley to arrest your fall should you fall out of a stand. I was thinking this elaborate pulley thing looks absurd, why would anyone want to use that? Hmmm....

i belive uncle j would agree, absurd or not you cant be too careful while hunting period....

and with the pully thingy u first have to climb then hang the thingy..

as with alot of stuff we do for years and years and years we get a little to comfy and easy to make a mistake,,,,--it happens ,,,with anything we do driveing, hunting, be it what ever so use this as a reminder folks never let your gaurd down no matter how comfy you get at what ever u do ,,be it at work or play,,,,---could save someones live here....

I agree Bap, I have been climbing trees , walls, cliffs, ropes, latter's for years, as a 12 yr firefighter veteran, I know the ups and downs, I I checked every step on the way up and the brace that looked good wasn't good as I let my guard down and didn't check it before I grabbed ahold, that was my mistake , this kinda stuff happens , just glad the Good Lord above was falling with me and just let me hit hard enough to learn my lesson , He could of just let le hitt full force and be killed but He didn't... But it is a good lesson learned if the guy who owns the stand is scared to climb it there might be a good reason why , let him climb it first....lol, thanks for all the support and I will be wheelin again before u know it...oh...anyone have 4wheel drive wheelchair???? Just askin
