Exclamation 1993 yj

Hello Everyone,
I am new here. I joined this forum because of number one I love JEEPS and number two I need some help. I purchased this 1993 YJ in 2009 from nice young gentlemen who assured me that is was in great condition. I have not had it running for over a week since i have had ownership of it. I have had everything from tranny work to flat tires! I feel that it is coming around but now it is acting very strange. I am no machanic but I am very willing to try anything! It will start and drive but sometimes it kind of sputters and will not go past a certain rpm of lets say about 2000 and will backfire and then it will run fine later. Sometimes when the engine gets warm and does it and sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes it does it straight from the start. I dont know just want it going! Any ideas would be helpful! Thank you for the acceptance into your forum!

Well I figured it out after all, the fuel pump was bad. Firestone wanted 780.00 to change it out for me, of course I told them to kiss off and I did it myself! Thanks for the ones who tried to help!

It wasn't the fuel pump! I changed it out and ended up taking it to a mechanic and he finally figured it out. It was the pickup coil in the distributor! Runs like a rolex! Now I am just trying to figure out where this ax5 tranny is leaking from!

if it's an ax-5 then most likely it's either around the drain plug or where the bellhousing meets up with the engine
