I'm sure most of you know Grenada Lake was built for flood control by the Corp of Engineers and they pull the water level down every winter. There are hundred of folks riding every weekend until we get some rain. You can ride all you want with whatever degree of mud you want, just take your trash with you.

Are they're any trails in Rankin, Hinds or Madison counties? Looking for some places in the Jackson metro area.

Yes we are. Haven' played them in a while and our record against them isn't that good. I really hoping for a good season this year. Do you come to games here?

But southern's last few years have not been the greatest, so we should be fine even if we play bad. I wish I could come to several home games but I don't really know anybody and I went to a game by myself a few years ago and it was horrible, left at half time. I'm a much bigger baseball fan and haven't been to any of those either...I'm a terrible fan (but I always watch when we're on TV)

Yea, I understand. It's much more fun if you can go with folks, maybe even do some tailgating. I don't go to a lot of games, I went to so many when I was a kid. Grew up real close to the campus (walking distance) (now I live in the house I grew up in). When I was a kid I sold cokes in the stands.

That is soooo cool...but I can see how it wouldn't be a big deal for you now. Pretty neat to live in the house you grew up in too, I never want to live in the delta soooo I doubt it'll ever happen

Yea, it's a great house in a great location. Dad passed in '99 and Mom in '03. I inherited 1/3 of it and bought my 2 brothers 1/3's share. (they both live in Texas)

I still go to a couple of games a year, I can get free tickets usually. If you haven't heard, they're just about to finish a major expansion of the stadium! It's now "U" shaped with a jumbotron on each end.

I KNOW! the biggest screens of any college team! wow, we're first in something! (actually, we get a bad rap but we're 1st in more than most would think). My roommate is an architect and has been keeping me in the loop on the expansion progress...drove through there to see it a couple of times this summer. Now if we can just fill up all those seats by having a banner year!
Do you hate the students or do they seem to bring life to the sleepy stkville town?

I tell folks it's always good to see them come back after summer, but it's also good to see them go home so we have a break. Starkville definitely wouldn't be the same without them!

I can see that...a quiet break would make you appreciate their livelihood.
I live a stones throw from MS College (Clinton), so I understand, just not quite to the scale of strkville.

It gets pretty boring around here with the students gone. When they are here there's always something going on.

Of course right now there are 4,000 freshmen driving here that have only been driving a couple of years at best, in a strange town while talking on their cell phones!

Yea, I drive through it on my way to work but it's not too bad. I go onto campus then I'm heading right off of it and most folks are headed into campus. Of course all of Starkville is a danger zone with the new students here.......at least for the first month or so. LOL When were you a student here?

I was there in the 80's and again 2010-2012. Definitely had a different feel between those 2 eras

Haha! I worked at danvers for a minute and the Phillips garden center for several years. Those were the days, for sure. But if I had focused and been a better student then I wouldn't have had to go back again in '10

What do you do? You must like whatever it is that you're doing...to stay in your hometown.

I work for an electrical engineering firm doing AutoCAD. Been there 18 years. It's a great job and I really like the town and MSU.

r e a l l y...impressive. I was supposed to learn and use it...but I didn't learn it very well and hardly ever use it, especially since I am back in school and it's all theory so far.

I like it, always learning something new. I only use a small part of it. What are you in school for?

I've taken 2 GIS classes...the first was so over my head that the prof felt sorry for me. The second was so elementary, we didn't learn much...but there's another one for me to take so hopefully it will be the right one.
if you take some pics of your yard space, I can draw it from here without seeing it, unless you need drainage and/or major grade changes.

I know what you mean about the GIS stuff. I really don't like using it, but have to on occasion.

In my yard I've got a few places that I don't know what to do with.
