Beautiful Downtown Ruby, Louisiana. If you know where this place is, you've been here before.

Fellow Jeepers of Southeast Louisiana....

Some of you may have heard about the new Red Creek NOLA park that will be opening up in Avondale soon. Well, I recently received this in an email from our local Bergeron Jeep dealership. Bergeron has been trying to reach out and build some good bonds with the Jeep community and it is very nice to see them getting involved like this.

From the email:
"The ride will start at Bergeron Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep (3525 Veterans, Metairie) to NOLA Motorsports / Red Creek NOLA Off Road Park in Avondale. (approximately 20 minute ride from the dealership)

Date: Friday, February 8th
Time: Check In/Line Up at 1:00-1:30pm
Depart: 2:00pm
Theme: Mardi Gras

The Off Road Park is a new development and is under construction, we talked about a “trail ride” and if possible, they will try to put something together for us. The official flyer/announcement will go out next week. More details to follow but wanted to at least reach out to everyone. This will be a public invitation so spread the word and feel free to invite your friends. This facility can accommodate any amount of Jeeps that come out!"

From what I hear this is our opportunity to give the owners of the park an idea of what we as potential patrons may want out of future development. If we don't want this to turn into just another big mud hole for 4-wheelers we need to make our presence and desires known.

If you drive a Jeep and live anywhere in the area, come out and represent.

Not to mention, it would be so bad ass to see a huge group of Wranglers convoy across the Huey P. Long bridge.

I have pretty much narrowed it down to Duratracs or BFG mud terrains.I was told the Duratracs were much lighter and probably better for a jeep.I know the sidewalls are supposedly thin just want to make sure before I spend a bunch of money. How are your tires in pouring rain and how do they bite in the mud?

Yeah, they do have a thinner sidewall. but it's not like it's paper thin. Just air down when you go offroad and you should be fine. I have the "road hazard" coverage and carry a spare. If I do puncture the sidewall the spare will get me home and they will prorate me a new one. My past experiences with Goodyear have been good so I don't worry too much.

As for the tire itself, they are great. They are light compared to other 33's, I have been carrying my spare on the stock tailgate carrier for a year now and have had no problems. They ride smooth, don't make a lot of noise and they work well offroad. I have taken her offroad about a half dozen times with them and they have not let me down. They grip well on the street and are great in the rain... I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about them.

I have the BFGs and LOVE them! (see picture) I sank it in quicksand. The KM2s were awesome! Very strong sidewalls.
